~Lost Musicians~

By: fictionalreality84 | Posted Oct 05, 2009 | General | 922 Views

This incidence took place like 4-5 years ago. I just had started experimenting with music. Regular visits to popular music shops likeFurtadoes and Bhargavaswas so common. Visiting such shops and exhibitions is like one experience in itself. The scene is so unique, bunch of kids trying some Metallica leads, guy with short pants wierd hair trying punk on bass guitars etc...Sometimes its too intimidating (some guys rip your head off) and sometimes you are on the flow and you are the man!

Back on the incidence, I saw this old man in furtadoes playing synthesizer (Keyboards) which from his appearance didn't seem to do well in his life. Torn chappals, pretty old formal white (turned yellow) shirt not in shirted, had worn a very old pair of glasses. I was just glancing through the acoustic section I saw this man playing some nice major sounding scaleson one of the expensive keyboards, he went on and on...like a flow. Like he was telling a tale, he knew that tale so well that he knew when the climax would come, he knew which notes emoted which emotions ....he was just un stoppable. I didn't know music so much that time...but I knew this stuff is not which "everybody gets" or sometimes you won't get it like even in some years to come. It was a pleasure to watch and hear but I could stop pitying this man. It was like "woah! but what a waste of talent...jeez!"

I wondered where these genius people go lost, I mean he was so awesome he certainly deserved more than chappals. Sometimes I feel sad about musicians finding difficulty to get bread and bread just because they dedicated their life for music. There are people even among my friends who have given up education and bussiness just so that they can be a musician. I have some really terrible stories to write about my own friends who deserved much better then what are going through just because they didn't opt to do a 9 to 5 joband it was not like they are not trying to find place in music industry (not Bollywood!! duh...but trying to convince record albums to make their cds out!)

Sounding good seems to be one thing and marketing music seems to be another (explains the fact...why "band manager" is required!). Classic example so that most of you get this would be describing character of Arjun Rampal in Rock oN movie. Simple, knows his music but not manipulative. In Bollywood, their musician are very talented but there music is just so much of money...so commercialized and so much predictable. Boring!

Education is important, I wouldn't say give it up however I feel if there are guys who have talent in music it should be brought up. If there is IIM for a manager, IIT for engineers why not for musicians? There should be Trinity university over here too!! I really hope there would be more platforms for the great musicians out there so that get can reach people and give them some source of better lifestyle.
