In this month most of my friends are going out of country for higher studies. So daily I have a farewell party for one or the other friend. Few days ago, I had my school reunion. After eight years, I was meeting my entire batch. Finally everyone agreed to attend the reunion.
My best friend in eighth standard was a guy from Dubai. He was new to India, so he could not get along with most of the people here. I being the extremely extrovert type used to speak to everyone. And so he got along with me very well, but as time passed we both lost contact.
When I saw him during the reunion, I couldnot even recognise him. He changed a lot but he remembered me and came to me. I was very happy to see him after such a long time. We were discussing things about our life, career and slowly our topic changed to Dubai. Things like palm islands and various other marvelous constructions we discussed. And then the topic changed to petrol price.
Me: hey, how much does one litre petrol cost you in Dubai??
Him: around one or two rupess, I dont know the present rate exactly.
Me: ohhh cool. Wait, one riyal=sixteen rupees approximately. So that means one rupee is less than one riyal, somewhere in decimal points.
Him: yes, you are right.
Me: so, how do you pay for one litre petrol?
Him: if the fuel rate is low, why will I go for one litre. I will ask them to fill the tank or I will give him one riyal and get it filled.
Me: full tank? 90% of Indians dream of getting their tanks filled atleast once in their life time. I so envy you.
I was feeling a bit ashamed for my ignorance, but more that that I was imagining when will fuel prices decrease in India... So that even I cant go and ask 'Bhaiya, mere gadi ka tank full kar dena....'
i know this will never happen..........
