Kishore Kumar was born Abhash Kumar Ganguli in Khandwa,Madhya Pradesh,the youngest of three brothers.After his eldest sibling Ashok Kumar became a Bollywood star,Kishore relocated to Mumbai.Ostensibly,to become an actor.However,he became one of Bollywood's greatest singers.But he was a fairly successful actor too.Indeed Kishore was one of the most complete entertainers Bollywood has seen.Completely camera-free and with a wicked sense of comic timing,he could have you in splits each time he appeared.It is known that he was influenced by Danny Kaye,the Hollywood singer-actor.But Kishore was in a class of his own really.His ability to catch your eye with his antics is quite unparalleled.That he was a serious,intense man at heart was proved by his films like 'Door Gagan Ki Chhaon Mein' which was influenced by Satyajit Ray's(Kishore was related to him) Pather Panchali.Indeed,it will be hard if not impossible to find someone like Kishore Kumar again.
