Jo Jeeta Wohi....

I was in class X I think when this movie came out.The year I guess was 1992.The film's name was 'Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar'.The director was Mansoor Khan.I actually saw the film some five years later. It was a good film and did strong business. But,really it was the best movie ever made in India for young people. It talked about the difficulties that they face, their little rebellions here and there. It was a great case-study of young love, seen from a pretty girl's simple point of view.Love was beautiful but life was real and cruel. You had to fight every inch of the way but hard work always paid off in the end.Never before had the indian high-school kid been put under the microscope and never again. It was our film, out and out,and we unwittingly wrote its screenplay, each and every day.Our generation completely identified and there was not a single boy who did not fall in love with petite Ayesha Jhulka.Well,I did.I doff my hat to Mansoor Khan for filming our generation so effortlessly and with such finesse.I can never forget the line,"Yeh Bholi Bhali Matwali Pariyan/Jo Hai Ab Daulat Pe Qurban/Jab Qeemat Dil Ki Yeh Samjhegi Toh/Chidkaygi Humpe Aapni Jaan..."Mr Majrooh Sultanpuri that's what I thought then and how the heck did you know?I guess that's it!
