This Rajshri film is now forgotten.
Nevertheless this is what I would like to say.Rajesh Khanna+Kishore Kumar+RD Burman+Anand Bakshi.This combination dominated Bollywood in late sixties and early seventies.And their finest film was certainly Shakti Samanta's 'Kati Patang'.Based on a short story by Gulshan Nanda it was a typical Rajshri product that spoke of typically indian values.It was the tale of a cheated man,an imposter widow and their forrbidden romance.But,really the high point of the film was its musical score.Kishore was in fine fettle here.Who can forget the chivalrous "Yeh shaam mastani' picturised on a pretty hillside.Then there was that marvellous drunkard number "Yeh jo mohabbat hai..".A great romantic song was certainly "Pyar diwana hota hai...".One of the most energetic holi songs was "Aaj Na Chhodenge...".There were other songs too which became quite popular.It was Burman's most melodious score,his most romantic work.The film was a huge hit despite an admittedly regressive storyline.It was great art,aesthetics and full paisa vasool.
But,as I have stated no one remembers KP now.They don't show it on movie channels because there is no s** and no violence here.And all that sells.
