Living up to its reputation of being the generous giver it is, google decided to gift India with a bouquet of products that support low internet speeds. It also made a promise to launch public WiFi

In the event, Google announced products like Youtube GO, Google station, and the google assistant in Hindi to name a few.

Let's check out the top announcement of the event

1. Google station

In the same event, last year, Google promised to provide free WiFi at India's railway stations and delivered. Google says that 52 stations in India now have WiFi which caters to the need of 3.5 million people each month with over 15,000 new customers coming online via these stations. This year google went a step ahead and announced it will take this WiFi project beyond stations into malls, bus stops, cafes, university campuses, etc. Google is on the lookout for partners to provide WiFi and says it will not only assist the partners to roll 0ut WiFi Hotspots but also impart them with the knowledge to monetize these public WiFi hotspots.

2. Youtube Go

Youtube has been suckin* up our data packs like a Dracula since eternity now. Google has finally heard our plea and launched YouTube Go - a mobile app which will help us in saving data while browsing youtube videos. The app can be used for sharing videos with friends and family if they are in close proximity without spending data since it uses Bluetooth to discover friends and uses WiFi Direct for transfer.

Google has decided that YouTube Go will be for India-only at first since the app has primarily been launched to cater to Indians

3. Google assistant in Hindi

If you found Google's Assistant and smart replies feature in Hinglish to be cool then sit tight, Google plans to launch this feature in Hindi very soon.

4. Chrome on mobile: Data saving features

Google chrome on mobile will drastically reduce the data used your browser since it will have an expanded data server mode. This data saving mode will be rolled out for mobiles, Chromebooks, and even computers. Google says?this new update will support MP4 videos, saving up to 67% of video data.?

The browser will optimize pages when loaded on 2G networks thereby loading the pages up to two times faster.

It also has a new Download feature which will let users save web pages, videos, music, and pictures on their phone and access the content offline from the downloads tab.

5. Google play and Google news

Along with the chrome browser, google play will also be optimized to work on 2G connections. When installing an app, Google play will have an option of "Wait for Wi-Fi" helping save data by downloading the app when the phone connects to WiFi.

Google news will now come in a new?Lite mode? for a user with low internet speeds. It will automatically detect slower networks keeping the headline of news and trimming the rest for faster page loading.

Google has taken it's love affair with India a notch higher with these announcements catering specifically to the problems of its Indian users.

To put in better, in the words Of Sundar Pichai himself "INDIA GIVES US EARLY INSIGHTS INTO THE FUTURE OF THE INTERNET."
