As part of our upbringing we Indians are very much believers of God or simply God fearing.
As a matter of fact going to religious places is just a start, it's not prayer till one starts realizing that God resides within us, in every aspect of nature, be it beautiful waterfalls or flash floods, be it unharming butterfly or hunger eagle. For believers there are numerous signs of the existence of the almighty which science is trying to explain and explore through ages yet keeps an option of a supreme power handy when a hypothesis stucks before getting culminated into a theory.
There's an account of Akbar the great got an enlightenment and his life changed. That moment is called the moment when you realize that God exists near you too and he had always guided you to the right path, man's heart sometimes not wanting to do something bad is the existence of God who stops the ill efforts and it's the thing called conscience.
Akbar was just a human, an illiterate, yet he realized it.
Unfortunately we have become so short of time that we have left our conscience too behind to gather it up for our own good.
