Diversity on the table

'Variety' as it is called, is the spice of life.

From moving to non-moving creatures on the face of earth, It becomes more clear when seen from outside, standing at a distance holding a binoculars and looking at the lush green valley from a cottage on the hill top, birds of different colours, sizes, style of flight, duration of flight, then animals whether herbivores or predators or reptiles, then various trees from medicinal to toxic, variety is abundant, it cannot be contained, it's limitless vast, as vast as the universe, even no two stars have the same luminosity. Nature loves variety, and it's one for all the diverse living beings.

Living abroad gives an opportunity to come face to face with the Indian diaspora. Once in a restaurant I was sitting in the corner having my dinner, it was a middle class restaurant just like the one's found in the industrial areas of Delhi/NCR where people from all the nearby factories and workshops come to have their meals. It was the time between 8-9 p.m when the rush was at peak, and the restaurant was almost full. The arrangement of tables was in such a way that it allowed six persons sitting. I was munching the salad while waiting for my meal, I heard the man sitting across ordering,"One plate fish curry and rice." This brought my attention to the variety of people sitting all around me - dressed different, eating different, some talking, some silent. The person next to me was having daal-roti, might be from North or East, next to him was having crab-masala, might be from South, in front of these two were two fair looking guys having chicken curry and chholey, may be from North and the person who had just ordered might be from Bengal or South. It was not easy to find such a diversity in a neighbourhood locality in Delhi, where everyone's localite, but it becomes visible in an eatery abroad, where everyone from different lands of India comes under a roof to have food. the flow of thought was broken by the arrival of Palak paneer and butter naan for me.
