Hi everyone, this is my comeback review after 1 ½ yrs! But here I go… This time it’s on an icon for Indian bikes… but does it live up to its hype? How I got the test: As usual I was among the first ones to test the Karizma when it was launched. But recently my friend...Read more

Y write a rvu b4 the bike is launcehed? Nyway my preferences: BAD 1. Name 2. Headlamp fairing needs getting used to GOOD 1. Power-Torque 2.International styling 3. Weight 4. Alloys 5. Technology - CV carb, digital ignition etc. Power bikes give less mileage that is the law of na...ture so nothing to comment on mileage. My rvu soon as i test drive it. AbishekRead More

PLACES AT CONOOR There are some interesting places in Conoor also, but as we have seen it earlier we didn’t give them a visit. They are: Sims Park, Dolphin Rock, Lovedale and Wenlock gardens. There is also a good trekking path available where you can trek across rocks and forest for hours.... Also the Keti valley near Ooty looks wonderful… THE FAMILY RETURNS That afternoon we start scrolling down the hills, it was sad to pack off but we had to. We spiraled down the valleys saying good bye to the monkeys and the trees. As we descended to Mettupalayam, I shed a drop of sweat from my temple and I could see a lean goat grazing over a poster… Back to Coimbatore! ================================= TIPS 4 U 1.Try to go by a car, it is extremely diffi to travel by bus. It is a absolut no.. no.. I saw a boy vomiting all the way… 2.Try staying in ur friends house if possible, hotels are not cozy and enjoyable enough. 3.Try traveling by train from Mettupalayam to Ooty, it will be crowded but u’ll sure enjoy the way it climbs. 4.Don’t travel by motorcycles, it is a problem if it rains. 5.The best time to visit Ooty is May-June when the climate is very pleasant. Later the rains get started. 6.Always take cameras, binoculars, cards and A.R Rehman hits. 7.If u self drive take some Zandu Balm and a car with power steering! 8.If u hate hair pin bends go via Kotagiri also it is less trafficked. On Weekends the Conoor road becomes one way, i.e. u can go only up. (Only this summer) Need any advice on Ooty, feel free to mail me… anything and everything. NJOI | THE | CHILL !Read More

NINTH MILE Nine miles away from Ooty, you have this place called Ninth Mile. It is actually a shooting point and you can find highly sloping lawns here. But due to the high tourist density the grass has dried up and I liked the NeergasiMund better for it was greener and lonely. HOTEL TAMIZHAG...AM With the help of ‘The Govt. Of India’ car we gained entry into Hotel Tamizhagam, this is where the CMs and Governors stay while at Ooty. The garden is superb, many times better than Rose Garden. Also the plants in the 2 glass houses are very pretty and fresh. That’s what good maintenance can do. I pissed besides a large tree (Indian Culture!) there and we returned to Kotagiri… KODANADU VIEW The next day we visited KodaNadu view point about 19 kms from Kotagiri. The drive was peaceful and I could see a small falls on the way, but the water seemed to be flowing out of a pipe! Another beauty I could see was the tree trunks, they seemed to have a design twisted onto them. I tried to photograph one of the most beautiful trunks but to my disgust found a Soniya Gandhi poster spoiling it, Politics! The KodaNadu view is the best place I have seen so far, you could feel as though in heaven with the clouds blowing all over you. The place is cold, less trafficked and makes you feel very good. The point offers a superb view, 10 times better than the Dhodabeta. The Rangasamy peak visible from this point speaks of Nature’s art. You can also see the adjacent Rangasamy pillar, a falls, the Moyra river and the Karnataka boundary. The view is very clear unless blocked by the clouds, but often clouds cover the view, but waiting for this breathtaking view is really worth. There we also see a Toda Temple, wonder how the priest gets in for the door was smaller than a window! A nice photograph there too… Contd. Read More

NEERGASIMUND On the way to Pykara, we pull over this mund (village). This is a shooting point and very often you can see actress’s running here and there in bikinis. Though I want lucky! The lawns here are very beautiful, green and slopy. On the border you have a thick forest and this is o...ne of the beautiful places I have seen. Yet not many people visit this beauty. We visit a nearby Toda (native tribal) house; I was surprised to see a 29” TV inside! That’s what Govt. aid does! RAINING COLD Till then the climate has been very pleasant, neither cold nor hot… was just perfect. Suddenly we could see some gray clouds hover above us… as a lightning thundered… Started as a light shower, the rain poured almost freezing my blood to semi-solid state. I could see the air I breathe out freezing like smoke! The temperature came down quickly and the drive was very romantically cold, but where is my pair! The driver needed to keep rubbing his Zandu Balm as the rain almost fogged the car glass. I actually enjoyed the rain that lasted half an hour, as Ooty wasn’t really cold till then. Slowly we progressed through the slushy roads of the Pykara. THE PYKARA The Pykara lake, near the dam is a great beauty. The water is clean green and the scenery derives a hell of tranquility. Due to the rains we got a paddle boat quickly, costing 95 bucks with a helper. The water level was very low, expected to be full in Octobers… But you can enjoy boating here more than on the Ooty Lake. Contd. Read More
