Dear Maddy, I've not been a frequent visitor of this site but whenever I've come here I have always made it a point to search for your reviews and read them. Your writings have always stirred me. I'm sad to know that you will no longer contribute any more leaves to this immense tree of j...oy called MouthShut. However I'm sure that your reviews will continue to bring applause from the future generations of MS members for years to come. Thank you Maddy for your reviews and comments. I wish you all the very best for your future. Bowing to your last call, Shailesh. Read More

A very good review about a movie that is everyone's perennial comedy favourite. Here are few facts that I've gathered from the net, which perhaps maybe interesting for others to read:- 1. Rekha was the original choice for Bindiya's role. But Hrishida later thought that her glamour would negate... the excellent comedy script. 2. The script has been written by Shailesh Dey (Makes me feel proud..hehe) 3. Amol Palekar initially wanted to reject the role since Hrishida never revealed his script before shooting started and Amol never signed without hearing any script. 4. Utpal Dutt was a very serious person in real life. During the shooting he would keep to himself often reading a book. 5. Dina Pathak actually went through the bathroom window in the scene, though she got stuck for a while due to her high heels. 6. Amol Palekar would make faces at Bindiya behind the camera during the shooting of 'Aanewala Pal' thereby making it difficult for her to put on a serious face when the camera faced her. Good Review. Ram Mandir, Hindu-Muslim Fights.... Has anyone ever given a thought that some of the most beautiful, serene, Hindu devotional songs have been sung by a Muslim ? Sukh Ke Subh Saathi from Gopi sung by Rafi is such a bhajan. Listen to it in a closed room with your eyes shut and one is transpo...rted to the land of God. Listen to 'Duniya na Bhaye mohe ab toh bulale' in a sad mood and one is sure to cry. 'Man Tadpat Hari Darshan' is also one of my evergreen favourites. Heard it when I was in primary school and will love it forever. It's not just a song..its a prayer. A Prayer to the almighty, sung with the utmost devotion by Rafi. I'm sure God must've loved Rafi's voice and devotion in his songs so much that he called him....leaving us ordinary humans orphans in the world of Hindi Music. Rafi Saab's words were so true.... 'Tum mujhe yuh bhoola na paavoge. Jub kabhi bhi sunoge geet merey. Sungsung tum bhi gungunavoge' My tribute to him. Shailesh.Read More

This urge to be fairskinned is everywhere. Its a demand created by Advertisements(Yeh lagao..Gori banjaavo. Duh !!), Matrimonial proposals (Wanted Fair, Slim...blah blah), Job Recruiters (Wanted Good looking Typist...why should a typist be good looking ?). Its so deep in the Indian pysche that i...ts going to remain there forever. Our Mythology itself speaks of Fairskinned Apsaras and Queens. Even Lord Krishna was Dark Skinned. Yet since that's 'improper', he's depicted as blue in almost all paintings (with a story of him drinking some snake poison that made him blue doing the rounds. If you ask me, it was a tube of Fair n Lovely) Until people realise that finally its good nature and attitude that counts, this stupid demand for fair-skinned people will never end. Good Review. I certainly love to see good FX and will definitely watch Matrix reloaded perhaps some day, even though I still don't like the concept/script. But that's okay...its definitely a million times better than the hundreds of senseless Hindi Movies that I've watched until now...hehe. Just a correcti...on in my previous comment. You will never be reviewing Matrix 10 since the next installment is going to be the last. Its called 'Matrix- Revolutions' and will deal with death. Hmm... I'm also waiting for Akshay Kumar to star in Bollywood's version of Reloaded. He was too funny in his earlier attempt..Aawara Pagal Deewana. Akshayyyyy... I'm waiting for Awaara Pagal Deewana Wapas (Reloaded in Hindi ?) ;-) Keep them coming. Regards, Shailesh.Read More

Agreed both the Matrix movies have cutting edge or path breaking special effects. Agreed that the FX team have taken so much pains to recreate cinematic magic. But the basic question remains What is the matrix ? Okay..the script already tells us...Humans are 'cultivated' by aliens and human embr...yos power them and the world is false..etc etc *gulp*. I did like Matrix Part 1 for its effects. But I never ever liked the concept. A senseless story filled with astounding effects ? I'm outta here. Give me a Gladiator with its story of love, revenge and hope any day. I don't care what the hell is Matrix all about. Its a stupid story with FX just to pull audiences. Vivek good review though, full ratings. Looking at how Hollywood squeezes the last ounce from any hit movie by dishing out insipid sequels ('Godfather' and 'Omen' Forgiven), I won't be surprised if you'll be reviewing 'Matrix 10 - Unloaded and reloaded and unloaded again' some day. What surprised me was your interest in spiritualism at this young age. At your age, guys imbibe spirits of another kind. Your liking is impressive. I had lots of interest in the occult when I was in school and always wanted to become the world's best Ghost hunter...hehe. As time passed, that craz...e went away and now its just computers everytime. I possibly will never be able to read the magazine you've suggested while I'm in the US, but your review is certainly impressive and hence the HR. Regards, ShaileshRead More

What a wonderful entry you've made into the MS family with your superb review. Michael Jackson is an enigma and shall remain so for decades. He already is in the league of singers like Lennon, Frank Sinatra and Elvis Prestley about whom people continue to speak and bring new and new stories (...created or real). The press have made such an outcry and made ridiculous jokes about his plastic surgery that it's like a vicious personal attack. If I too were as rich as Michael, I too would've done plastic surgeries on my face and other (cannot name them in this forum...hehe) parts. Its my money, I'll do what I like. What's the big deal ? This debate can go on. All I can say is, Hate him or Love him, You just cannot ignore him. Full Ratings to your review. Regards, Shailesh Read More

Since all others have used all possible adjectives in praise of your review, all I can say is its beyond words. You've brought out every possible angle of the movie in terms of its strong and its weak points. This is the way movie reviews ought to be in MS. Good Job. As for the movie, I saw i...t in a theatre here in Houston and liked it. But what put me off a little later were the loopholes which you've pointed out. Also Indian movies shown in small theatres here do not have ratings system as such. So many a family sitting around me with kids, squirmed in their seats when the 'street foul language' jokes were mouthed by Sanjay Dutt & Manjrekar. The language was not to my liking either. And also to believe that Indians in the US have their own gangs which are so dangerous that LAPD needs to place a cop within their ranks is too much to swallow. The only dangerous Indians that I've ever met here are some car drivers..hehe. We Indians do not get into any trouble and rather run away at the sign of any. Ghar mein (in India) hum Sher hai, yahan bakri. Baaaaaaaa.... Full Ratings, Shailesh Read More

Hi Archit, Its certainly bad that the book that you so dearly wanted, arrived after 45 days. But I don't think Amazon should be blamed for this debacle. The whole problem actually starts (as your review states) with the money transfer issue. Your money must've gone to Chase Manhattan Bank after ...God Knows how many days. From there it reaches Amazon's billing department. Here in the US, purchasing & receiving stuff from Amazon is very fast and I'm one of their regular customers. Their site is well maintained (you too agree) and customer service is good too. As for the cost of shipping, any thing shipped from the US is definitely a little costly but you can be sure that you'll get your item without damage. I'd once ordered an item from Amazon which needed battery cells. So I thought what the heck...let me buy that too from them rather than from a shop. I received the cells neatly packed and bubble paper wrapped. Imagine a pair of simple cells bubble wrapped..haha. That's called service. Good Review . Full Ratings for your review but Amazon is Amazing I believe. Regards, Shailesh. Read More

Thank you all for appreciating my review. Dr Shafique: I respect everyone I've written about. Manoj Kumar & Dev Anand were admirable stars in their acting careers. What most actors/actresses fail to realize is that scripting/directing a movie is a different ball game. Despite that, they've att...empted to make crass films and shove it down the public's throat. Samsat: Thanks a lot. Skicorp: Yeah. There are many fans of Mithun. I've a friend who swears by him. Cousin2: Thanks a lot. You've always added comments to my reviews. I appreciate it a lot. Diskkonnekt: I love what I write and I write what I love. So if anyone does not like Sarcasm, he/she is free to NR my reviews. Thanks. TiC: Thanks. Yes, Mithun's movies always sell well in small towns and cities. Besides having his own hotel, good location, cheap B-actors available..thereby low overheads. A pity that such a great actor (his 1st movie was an art movie but he acted terrific and won a national award too) should make a caricature of himself and go down the money way. Munda Kamaal: Thanks a lot, yaar. Regards, Shailesh. Read More
