we are performing badly because of ONE factor only: We lack the fighting spirit. We also shun challenges, we are also complacent. We take things for granted and our players would rather be at home holidaying than practicing for their tours. Why didnt we have a practice camp before going... to SA? Why is our training drill so lax? Why dont we drop non performers?..... we play badly becoz after all its just a game......so what if we lose? ......let the aussies break their bones and the S Africans too...why should we? Thats why we lose. Read More

Thats a great observation and hypothesis on SRK and his limitations....very novel indeed! Liked your review..it really does make a lot of sense...SRK is just not Don. And yeah when he mouths those famous dialogues... they sound like a big hisss...(and why does his mouth get lop-sided?) 'Don ko paka...rna .....namumkin hai'...why didnt someone tell him that he's best at stattering the k-k- k- kiran stuff....The closest he can came or can come to a super hero is a cape clad Baazigar riding a horse chasing Kajol!Read More

lovely thoughts. But i also feel that women should also 'look' good. and if a certain hair cut or a new shade of lip stick enhances her looks...hey why not? but yes as u said ..she will look truly georgeous only if she possesses inner beauty as well... cheers aanchal

Nicely written review! But somehow i do not agree with the two options we have here. I personally have never liked the way SRK acts - always thought he over acts and am quite sick of his puppy dog look where he pouts and threatens to burst out crying while gazing into the actresss eyes... hes becom...e too repetitive.. as for Aamir Khan - i agree that hes better than SRK but i was really disappointed with him in Rang de and Mangal Pandey. The former is a great movie ...but Aamir was really not all that great (except for one scene where he breaks down)...he looks so old and puffy and perhaps triestoo hard to impress. However he is one of the superior actors we have.... These two are definitely stars in our movie industry but whether i'd tell a total stranger that one of them is the best actor we have .(performance wise)...well i doubt that. Who then would it be.... i'd go with the option of naming someone like Naseeruddin Shah, even Paresh Rawal and if you include women artistes ..then Shabhana Azmi. These are performers without any baggage of stardom. But then this is just what I think. Im sure 90% of India will pick one the Khans.....perhaps I would too if i told myself that performance wasnot the main criteria..... Cheers! Keep Writing! Aanchal Read More

I find Ms Rai totally fake and empty headed. She is blessed witha beautiful face but shes ruined it with the oodles of stinking attitude that she piles on. She cannot act for nuts, when she dances; her movements are so stiff she cannot emote at all and in every movie that ive seen of hers- she has z...ero chemistry with her co actors. She simply puts me off....Read More

Nice review . Honestly i was disappointed with the movie...not because im prejudiced about the subject but just by the treatment given to the movie and its extremely slow pace. The subject and the acting are great but for me the movie is a flop.... I also thought the costumes and make up were ...quite terrible. One could only make out that the guys have become older when one saw their kids....... and Ennis looks needlessly haggard and ill even though he's just in his late 30s. And did you see Jack's wife's wig? .....! was that fake thing intentional? why?? anyways i still think its a gutsy movie! Cowboys and love??? no one makes movies on that. And hey Cowboys and gay??? NEVER ! They are supposed to be 'manly'.......and homosxuals are not 'manly'... Im just glad that someone tried to shatter these beliefs and go beyond perceptions and explore human relationships..... cheers AanchalRead More

the movie was disappointing...not a patch on Jane Austens classic- a mockery infact! Icould not sit through it! Aishwarya Rai ( the 'gorgeous'miss world) is so fake and Mr Darcy...well like Nik said..the character is not even 1% of the DARCY we all know..... Frankly i didnt care too much for the p...omp and garrish colours and exaggerated 'Punjabi-ness'..... So we disagree on this one Wiccadgirl! keep writing! Cheers AanchalRead More

hi jen! That was a great review...very much pertinent in todays times. I agree with all you said and would just like to emphasise that point where you say the 'when' aspect is important. Parents/ schools etc need to be very careful as to what is the right age to impart such education and also 'ho...w much'. At different points of childhood, the child has a certain capacity of understanding and incorporating information and subjects such a sex need to be delt with carefully. Here again i totally aree with you when you say that sex education is a gradual process. it needs to be given in doses...There can be a high risk of absalute overexposure to the topic which will be disastrous. For example one need not tell a 12 yr old girl about methods of birth control and abortions....what she should be told perhaps at that age is how a woman becomes pregnant.... The topic of sex neednt be taboo..but it should also not be like discussing the weather. Do you agree? Cheers AanchalRead More

'If what you can do for your country was the idea, if looking indise yourself & questioning your contribution in your nation building was the idea, if encouraging the gen-now to think about their committments towards their homeland was the idea; then a brilliant movie to my mind was ’Swades...217; which did all that.'........ even though Swadesh was a good movie ....That was a story about someone who had 'awakened' .....this is one of those sleeping. That was the story of an individual , this of a generation.... You've got me confused with this one! Think you just didnt get the directors story line...... dont apologise for it! cheers! neither the Hindu or the Muslim is bad…its just that the former(in the movie) refuses to budge from his views that were drilled into him by the minister. One can also see the pressures on a young Muslim from his family …..Did you realize that the movie is about all these issues…..a...nd not how Sue shot the documentry? Coming to the second half. The director has established in the first half that we have become complacent and need to look back and take example from our great leaders and awaken to ignite that same passion. We need to make our nation the greatest and what do we have to fight against today- corruption. The MIGs angle was brought in to exemplify corruption. He could have gone the way all hindi movies show corrupt politicians…taking bribes, getting people killed, rape blah blah…. Why not pick up an issue that actually exists in the highest corridors of power. By the way, the MIG disasters have been covered extensively in the media and everyone is aware of the crashes taken place. Why cant he show that? The movie is great because it is NOT giving you solutions. It is just bringing out the fact that we need to wake up and realize that we have it in us to fight. We need to chose or methods wisely or we will end up as these college guys. It urges YOU to come up with solutions. Agreed that they were silly to kill the minister…so ask yourself WHAT WOULD YOU DO? And if you have asked yourself that…then the movie has achieved its objective. If not…..then your level of complacency is even higher than DJ’s in this movie. Anyways we all have our own take on things! And hey uve put across ur points wonderfully! Cheers aanchal Read More
