Fairness/whitening products are meant to promote fairness by way of removing pigmentation and tanning of the skin that occurs naturally when one is exposed to the sun for long periods of time, or by the effects of age. Therefore these products cannot make a dark person fair, they can only reduce ...or remove the pigmentation/tan that causes the skin to appear dull and dark, thus making the skin appear lighter than before (tanned state). If fairness products really worked, there wouldn't be any dark skinned people in this world, and the Fair & Lovely company and all others that manufacture such products woule be multi zillionaires by now. Bleaching has the same effect, except that normal fairness creams help the skin to recover from bad exposure and damage, whereas bleach dries out the skin and also removes the tan. In the long run though, your skin gets so badly damaged after constant use of bleach that it darkens. Natural mehtods are more useful and probably longlasting- tomato juice, multanni mitti etc. Read More

I can't believe you had the patience to watch this movie, and moreso after writing a review on it! A point of difference here where you said that people in India would not relate to the life portrayed in the movie in NYC because they played rich characters- India is not a poor country. Yes a larg...e population are villagers, but there are enough and more of the middle and upper middle classes used to such luxuries, even when living in Europe. But ofcourse Karan JOhar is bound to be over the top. Did you know that he absolutely loves London, and always makes it a point to shoot scenes of his movies in London? Although I feel his views on life that he expresses through his movies are usually through rose tinted glasses, he is finally breaking out of his mould of making safe cinema. Also as he believes in numerology and astrology, he maintains the K factor in all his movie titles, as it is supposed to bring him success. Have you seen any other movies of his?Read More

Thankyou. Yes she was good in Pyar Tune ka Kiya, but I felt she over acted slightly-very hysterical. Yes, the role did demand that, but somehow I would expect a more mature performance by a rani mukherjee in her place, or a tabu...thats my personal opinion ofcourse. Thanks for commenting! aditi

Yes I agree with you. SRK is made up of too many faces and expressions...and Aamir manages to portray his roles in a mature fashion.

Very good review here. Recently there was a spate of polls appearing in the Bangalore Times, a supplement to The Times of India newspaper about people who believe in this issue and those who don't. As you very accurateley said, a large influence from western culture is influencing today's youth,... and the negative aspects of which are all consuming in other aspects of life as well. There is hardly an sanctity in families, where since now- generation of the late 70's and 80's, parents themselves believe in an 'open' system at home, which I'm sure has deep psychological effects on children growing up and seeing their parents with other people. This has not remained in the movies-many many upper middle class and upper class families, largely from the IT industry with both parents working have inculcated other ways of entertaining themselves, and thus 'maintaining a healthy marriage'. It does seem unheard of and shocking, but in Bangalore this is very common. When parents take holiday's seperately, its the same thing. Its amazing to see how deep an impact this promiscious attitude has sunk into our culture. Kind regards, aditiRead More

As you said, I'm not very familiar with most of the artiste's that you mentioned, except for Nat King Cole and Frank Sinatra of whom I've heard a bit of, as they're my father's favourites as well! Thankyou for your comments, aditi

Its nice to see someone enjoy movies made of another language and culture so much. Me being maharashtrain haven't seen enough to be able to do any justice to the talent that these movies have. Have you seen Shwaas? Amazing1 Aditi

Yes there was such a frenzy over the book when it was publicised that it wasn't original. The book did deservedly require to be pulled off the shelves. but it makes one think ke, what actually makes a book original then? Are there going to be rules and a standard guide line provided for future wr...iters...? I've been trying to get hold of this book, but no luck yet! Good review btw, keep writing! :-) aditiRead More

Very good review, and a thought provoking one! I think all of us are to blame here, to some extent. We want the main protaganist to survive after conquring the baddies and winning the woman, It's the same formula repeated a million times over in all our 'hit' movies of the past. And we want to s...ee the same thing. Possibly movie watching is looked upon as more of a getaway and relaxant than a thought provoking experience. Fortunately Rang De Basanti has, although minimally, started a slight stirring. As for the sleazeball issue, I think when Ms Mallika arrived with a barrage of smooches and clothes in centimeters, it excited the audiences that wasn't used to seeing this in mainstream cinema. But after the first few movies that took advantage of public curiosity, the hype died down and people learned that it wasn't all that interesting anyway. Basically, I do think we have an intelligent audience, but most of us have gotten ourselves comfortable in formula movies, and the recent spate of movies from Dil Chahtha Hai days onwards are aiming to change the mould slowly. :-) AditiRead More

This is not a competition btw, and i don't want to insult you either. 'Please understand that every one has a view point on a product and even if you don’t agree with it, you have to respect their opinion.'-If this is what u believe in, then why are u so upset about me not liking Juhi Chawla? ... And, I'm not in love with ash, far from it. I don't think she can act-which you will see written in my review on her. :-) And even if I did like Ash, it would be MY OPINION, not 'flouting my ignorance'. Lets finish this here. We have accepted that both of us have a right to a view. Read More

Nothing personal here- I was irritated after I read yet another comment on that review, then I saw this one, and your response to another member's comment. I guess the bottom line is that you obviously love Juhi Chawla, and I don't at all. That's it. It doesn't make you or me better. Just giv...es us a topic to fight over, which I hope is done for, for the time being. So till we find something new to argue over- Ciao! AditiRead More

I gave your review a 'Useful' rating because the effort in researching your theme and your way of putting it across was good. I'd like to quote a line from your comment to 'mainmonalisahoonna's' comment, where you said 'Learn to respect other people who are just giving their opinion here.' Well ...said, but you should practise the same. You have written 2 long comments on my review '5 worst actresses', accusing me no end, because Juhi Chawla is on that list. Hey if you can't take another person's opinion with a pinch of salt, don't go around insulting them when they give you 'contructive criticism' on yours. Just as you can't accept another's opinion, understand that others cannot always accept yours. And pls, don't insult me now.Read More

I respect your views on your favourite actress, but seriously, no matter how many times you remind me that my review on 'worst sctresses' was biased, that I cannot take criticism, that I don't have a strong enough point to base my views on- is not going to change my views on Juhi Chawla. If this ...review bugs you so much, please, don't read it again? I have a right to voice /write my opinion, and if its the same as yours and everyone else's, than we can all just rate everyone VU and U and forget about reading the review altogether. Truly well written review-it was exactly to the point, defined the crisis, and was very well phrased. It's a sorry situation that this country still gives so much of importance to castes, when they don't even know how or why it originated. Earlier, when a young boy was going into Gurukul, to init...iate his life with his Guru in education-he was given the title a Brahmin, why ??because he studied, not his parents who were not Brahmins if they didn't study. A person was a particular caste by virtue of his employement/proffesion, not because his father was such and such. Castecism is completely irrelevant today, it should be totally abolished in all respects. If one has to come up in soceity, one should- by hardwork, skill, ambition and talent. Why do 1000's of students work so hard against so many odds to appear for a few seats in our elite institutions, only to see half of them given away to reservation candidates? How does a country such as ours, just recently coming out of its 3rd world status, expect to come into reckoning if we give our assets to people whose only attempt is based on being poor? Yes the poor do have serious problems, hindering their ability to study, but what are scholarships for? If one has the intelligence, the capacity to work really hard, the talent and drive, let nothing stop them. But let this be the only criteria. AditiRead More
