I believe she has made the right choice because it will leave a mark in Bollywood history. Here is a story about something Bollywood has not challenged before and it is hero less. Madhuri proves that she can carry the film by her self as the hero. Well done to all who were behind this. And a special... thanks to the doc (Dr. Sriram Nene) for being such a supportive and understanding husband who has let the camera borrow her for the past few months. J Another special thanks to her kids for joining the Madhuri Dixit fans “club”. “Madhuriji, you have done everything powerful in Indian Cinema. We want to see more of you but doing the films that are just right. We wish you all the best in the future. We are glad that we could see your smiling face and your passion for the craft of acting once again. As you go back to your normal life, we will miss you but we will let Aaja Nachle ring in our ears until we see you again.” 9.5/10 sorry for the very long review....I could still write more but I think this is ENOUGH haha... thanks for your patience (if you made it this far) and congrats!Read More

Were you able to be glued to the screen? YES. YES. YES. How can I be able to stop watching even for a second when my favorite actress was on the big screen? Other than that, I enjoyed the songs, the dancing, the set up, and all the other members of the cast. People were laughing in the theatre b...ecause the movie was entertaining. I saw the movie to be a complete film. It was a comedy, a drama, and a musical. It definitely had a strong message. To me, I see the message as: Where ever you go, don’t forget who you are. Because sometimes if you forget, you let down your own people. I am an American born and brought up Indian. I was able to connect with the character of Dia. I was able to feel what she felt because I feel so strongly about Indian art. To me, dance is spiritual. Sure, you can dance for fun but I feel that I do that out of respect for Indian dance of all styles. I think I liked this film not only because Madhuri was in it but also because it was a film about something I felt strong about as well as the character. The direction and cinematography were both exceptional. As Anil Mehta’s debut in direction, I found that he did a fine job and I am pretty sure he had the help of many to make the film as it appears. The outfits by Manish Malhotra and the people responsible for Madhuri’s new look must be praised. She looked great. Who would ever say she is a day over 40? I just would like to end my review by commenting on Madhuri. As I have mentioned she is a complete actress. She herself believes she was never gone. And I must agree because if she was gone, she would not have the anxiously waiting fans including myself and the friends I have at Filmifanatics forum. All I have to say is there may be some people who want to bash the film and some who want to praise it. But that is expected of all films. Madhuri chose to do this film because she felt it was right due to the time and script.Read More

Music/Dance I usually do not write a different section about music or dance in my reviews. But, this movie deserves to have its own separate section afterall, it is called “Aaja Nachle”. All the music were beautiful. I have to admit, when I heard “Dance with Me”, I was sort of disgusted by th...e fact it was an English song. I don’t really like it when Indian music directors go for English songs. However, when I saw the video I was mesmerized by Madhuri’s western dance abilities. I never doubted that she is not capable but it is kind of new when you compare to her Indian style of dancing. “Aaja Nachle” the title track is beautiful both in tune and in dance. No body can express as Madhuri does on screen. During the song, I was trying to remember some of the steps that are not in the promos (because I already mastered the steps in the promos) so that I can use it for choreography and dance to this song for upcoming functions. “Show me your Jalwa” was a song I wanted to get up and start dancing with Madhuri. I really liked the auditions sequence in the middle of it. “Ishq Hua” and “Is Pal” and “O Re Piya” were all slow but really touched my heart. It really made me feel something so wonderful. Overall, Madhuri’s dance can never be compared to anyone else. But her dancing only makes her a complete actress because her performance is just jaw dropping as well. I must also add that the 20 minute drama sequence that appears towards the end is wonderfully done. The stage set up, music (that we haven’t heard before L) and the dancing by everyone. I totally can not wait until it comes out by itself on DVD. Read More

Kunal Kapoor- Kunal Kapoor played Imran, a tough guy. Yes, he had the look and played his role very well. I must had he was very entertaining especially with the scenes with Konkona. Not bad looking either! Konkona Sen Sharma- Here is a budding actress. I have never seen a film of hers and as I w...atched her I believed she was perfect for the role. She played a tomboy who can’t dance but she was willing to do whatever it takes to take that role as Laila in the Majnu-Laila production. There were other cast members that are worth talking about such as: Akshay Khanna- He had a small but important role. He was the MP of the town or as he referred to himself in the movie “the bad guy”. It was really interesting to see him play a negative shade. It was also entertaining. Imran Khan- Imran played a businessman by the name of Farooq. Imran is a very good actor and he played his serious role very well. Divya Dutta- Divya played the role of Dia’s best friend back home in India. I really enjoyed her performance, although very small. Ever since I saw her in Veer Zaara, I always thought she was cute and a good actress as well. She hasn’t failed to be either one of those in Aaja Nachle. Ravir Shorey and Jugal Hansraj, and Vijay Pathak are other members of the cast who added to the entertainment. Read More
