Consumer Reports had this to say about Nutrilite -- most expensive brand for the least amount of health benefits. From personal experience as an ex-amway distributor, I know that Amway's primary customers are amway distributors themselves -- i.e., the motto is always 'Sell it to your downline' using... all kinds of crappy motivation 'You just have to believe in your self and your products and the world will have peace'. My advice -- if you are looking for vitamins, try other brands as well .. you'll be surprised how much cheaper they can be for greater benefits. Don't be sold on Amway's cult mentality of 'our products are the best'.Read More

According to consumer reports which tests almost every type of products out there, their test conducted on various vitamin supplements from 20-30 different brands showed that Nutralite brand of Amway had the least potency of all and their filler materials were not the best of breed. I'm no pharmacol...ogist, but when a reputed organisation like Consumer Reports says it .. I believe them. It's also a known fact that all Amway distributors will say CR is total crap since it always shows amway products to be inferior to most other brands.Read More

Hmm.. I actually kinda like the 'sit anywhere u want' since I usually travel all alone anyway and tht way I can usually get to choose a better seat than being assigned one next to the toilet.

I think it is about expecting international standards. Domestic airlines in USA (low cost carriers or otherwise) are required by the FAA to honor the international baggage weight limits if someone is using them as a connecting flight from an international flight, i.e., you can carry 2 x 70lbs bags ...from india to NewYork and the connecting flight from NY to Chicago would have to let you (provided they are not already overloaded) take this baggage without extra charges. If such rules did not exist (like in India), the airlines soon turn into highway (airway) bandits since they know the passengers will have to pay whatever they demand. Read More

My family members and I have flown air deccan at least 20-30 times in the last few years.  Seems to have gotten slightly better recently, but in the end it is is still a no-frills low cost airlines. My BSNL connection has still not been given after 1 year. I have written off the Rs 500 deposit that I had to make when I made the application. My written letter to the city's managing officer for BSNL to refund my money has evoked no responses. Lesson leaned .. I have longed moved on to just usi...ng cell phones and internet from another provider (Tata indicom - which also sucks - but at least something is better than nothing). Read More

My dad realized the policy clauses a bit too late (4 months later ... long after the 15 day grace period). Its true that signing it without making sure the policy being handed was indeed the one being requested was dumb, but that does not exonerate the agent who knew what he was doing - and that is... - recognizing an easy prey in front of him. He knew very well that the person in front of him was not someone who is smart in financial legal mumbo-jumbo and hence too advantage of the moment. We checked with the management at icici prudential .. there are substantial losses if policy is surrendered before 3 years (something like 75% within one year, 50% within 2 years, 25% within 3 years). Hence, the only way out now is to invest 2 lakhs every year as the policy demands so as not to incur these penalties. Vikram... Sorry if my rant against your brotherhood of agents offends you (may be you might be amongst the few honest ones .. just like there are a few honest cops too ... who knows), but I have to write my opinion based on the experiences of my family with icici prudential. I don't want to comment upon the performance of ICICI prudential investment services as it remains to be seen what returns we get.  However, I do want to comment upon the outright dishonest cheats sent as agents who will sweet talk their way into old people's gullible instincts and get them to s...Read more

These agents are complete crooks. My father was cheated by a fast and smooth talking agent who saw a simple gullible old man as easy pickings. He promised my dad that he would have to invest only Rs 2 lakhs and instead made out a policy that will now require us to pay 2 lakhs every year for at leas...t 3 years. There was no misunderstanding as my father made it clear that 2 lakhs is all he wants to invest in this policy for all time. Yet the agent deliberately got my dad to sign the papers (with the usual sweet words of 'uncle uncle .. don't worry .. i am here for you ,.. any problems uncle and i'll rectifiy it ... etc.). Now the agent has changed his numbers and disappeared and ICICI office refuses to help us in this. Either we have to shell out the 6 lakhs instead of 2 lakhs to complete our part of the bargain or risk losing the entire 2 lakhs. These people are complete CROOKS!! Always read the fine print before signing anything. Read More
