Mr. Rock, I do not quite know what is the personal relationship that you share with Mr. Dutt, but I am glad you enjoy his varied 'acting repertoire'. Just one little point. Omkara (and Othello) are not about the main character either. The principal story is about Langda (Iago). But I agree th...at Munnabhai is the central character here. I shall go with Pras' comment saying here he fits the role to the T.Read More

Vaastav was longer ago than long ago. Same with Mission Kashmir. Zinda was a scene-by-scene remake of Old Boy. If you consider Khoobsurat worth talking about, dude, I bless your professionalism :D Sanjay Dutt hasn't acted in a radically different role in ages.

First things first. Vidya Balan is yummy. There, I said it! Someone had to, sooner or later. Enough of “the-girl-next-door”. She is the kind of girl you tell you are taking home to your mother and then midway decide to take some place else more private. Looking like she does, playing the p...Read more

Brilliant review. Brought out the disparate hard work that has gone into the movie and yet just what has been lacking. Loved reading it.

Motherfucker! This is a straight lift from rediff review of the movie by Sukanya Verma here. http://in.rediff.com/movies/2006/jul/28lady.htm I am going to report you!

Very decent review. My feelings are precisely the same about the movie. Technically perfect, though the soul seems to be missing. And let us not start heralding the age of new cinema with every good film that is made. We have been doing that since Satya days. We still get a lot of crap in the... form of hindi cinema.Vishal Bharadwaj is just one man. I am cringing to find out how movies like Krrish become bumper hits.Read More

The movie needs to be seen, but of course, it will be judged by different standards. If some other director would have made Omkara, it would be in the four stars league. But Bharadwaj is the victim of his own brilliance. Yup, I am a so called Marketing man. Isn't everybody? I am an MBA in Marketi...ng, and an Area Manager in FMCG sector at the moment.Read More

Before I say anything about the movie, let me mention that I am biased towards Monsieur Vishal Bharadwaj. I think his version of the Macbeth was perhaps one of the finest films made in Indian cinema (my review of Maqbool). Hence comparisons would inevitably be made. However, I wouldn't venture i...Read more

You are just in love with Kurt :) ! For Metallica, try 'Nothing else matters', 'Sad but true', 'The unforgiven', 'Devil's dance', 'Enter sandman'.

'The mammaries of the welfare state' is a more brilliant and mature book than English, August. Yes, it is not as angst ridden as English, but it runs shivers up and down your spine in a totally different way. Completely recommended. I wrote this http://theevilp.blogspot.com/2006/03/bloody-idio...t.html while i was reading it. Would appreciate your opinions on that.Read More

This book is certainly not for anyone who is looking for fun. It is an angst ridden book, and has to be understood through pain. If you are happy-go-lucky, you will not really appreciate it.

The novel does NOT really end. Just as life doesn't really as well until you die. Upamanyu Chatterjee did write a sequel to English, August. The mammaries of the welfare state. Liked your review.

A brilliant review for a non-rocker! Try Metallica for rock that is meaningful. Or earlier Dylan. You wouldn't be disappointed.

Brilliant language, as before. Somehow you cannot bring your thoughts to a logical crescendo. You should start writing a blog. Do you already?

Love the language you use to describe the book. Have you read the sequel? The mammaries of the welfare state? It is far more brilliant. And yes, i felt it was as much Chatterjee's own story than any one else's. You cannot bring such angst to the surface without the self being in pain

Oh but you should! The Mammaries of the Welfare state is even more brilliant than English, August. I was inspired to write a short story(which perhaps could develop into a novella) after reading Mammaries! The cringing language is a deliberate weapon to get you into that disgusted mode. I persona...lly think there is no-one like Upamanyu Chatterjee writing in India today. His words are so multilayered and yet seemingly so simple that most people simply discount him.Read More

All I have by way of providing your proof is a self experience. All it needs for you to substantiate my claim or disprove it is to choose any random date, and check fares across say one major sector (say delhi-bombay) across all major airlines. It is not confidential information. You can access it e...asy borngenius, especially with an id like yours. itskunchumon, agreed that the entry of Air Deccan brought down fares in the aviation sector substantially. But this is business. One doesn't do business just because someone was gracious enough to bring in self as competition. If the rest of the airlines are equally or more competitive and offering better offerings at the same price point, Air Deccan would be rated as bad. That is what the market suggests.Read More
