You liked the movie and I didn't.. But your concluding statement is astounding. By that logic, any stuff which I reject is attributed to my own lack of intellect.. Reminds me of the emperor's new clothes!

If I'm ever going to set out for a vacation in Europe, I'd just have to take a print of each of your reviews and that'd be my travelogue.. Great stuff! For the benefit of many in India, could you write a review of places in Europe in general and how one could plan say, a week or two of vacation t...ime...? Cheers!Read More

Yeah, you're right that this movie tries to mix science and theology, but that's where I feel it got a bit lost. It starts off as a pure sci-fi, but somewhere in between it meanders more into philosophical discussions totally forgetting science. Eg. I thought that building a billion dollar spacecraf...t purely based on mathematical maps downloaded from outer space is ridiculous and warranted more explanation. I haven't read Carl Sagan's book but I'm sure it brings it out much better than the movie. Another sore point of the movie, I thought was Mathew McConaghey - he's carrying those lover boy, 'I'm always there for you baby' acts a little to far.... Nice review though..Read More

Is your real name Harvey Karten? Bcos the very same review appears verbatim on many movie critique sites, and the author is Harvey Karten! 'Stupid man who copy-paste copyrighted movie reviews, will soon get sued...' - Confucious.

Nice summary. Personally, I'm not a fan of mushy love themes but Cameron's reconstruction of this historic event is magnificent. The low point of the movie I thought was Celine Dion's yodelling! Di Caprio is becoming a wasted actor. Check out his performance in 'What's eating Gilbert Grape', if you... haven't already - I believe it's his best.. Read More

Hritik's case was just an example, TOI dishes one or the other sensationalist stuff each day. The B'lore edition almost everyday has some article about the pub/disco scene on page 1. And please, I DON'T have to read from first to last to make a judgement on their editorial policy (btw, I do not subs...cribe to it). What is on page 1 is what sells. And my point is - TOI has positioned itself as a sensationalist newspaper. A few strong words does not make a review 'abusive' or less objective. Read More

Farid, newsworthiness is not good enough reason to justify the poor editorial policy of TOI. The Sun used to carry front page articles about Price Charles' and Diana's respective flings, with pictures. Was that not newsworthy - definitely yes. But quality news - an emphatic NO. My opinion is that... TOI is riding on a fad that caters to a teenage psyche which revolves around beautiful people and 'cool' things. Like all fads, eventually this must die. Too much masala and not enough meat always leads to indigestion.Read More

There is the burning Kashmir issue, with impending talks between Ind and Pak. Ayodhya debate is creating a furore in the parliament. Women's reservation bill is back on the agenda. What does TOI print on the first page (in font size 24, bold)? Hritik's wedding, complete with map details...Read more

This was released as 'Austin Powers - II' or something like that in India. Censors wouldn't pass 'Spy who shagged me..'. Shag has a slightly different connotation here in India..!

The search results are opened in an Askjeeves pane, rather than a simple redirect to the target site. This can be a crick in the neck, and bookmarking is a pain. I like the 'See what others are asking now' feature - plays to the voyeurs in us..

john woo as usual packs a slick action movie, but I disagree with you on Travolta's performance. He hammed away to glory (like so in 'Broken Arrow'). The line 'I hate to see you go, but I love to watch you leave...' and his agog expression as he gazes down his wife's butt.... made me cringe!
