It is very easy to pass blatant judgements left, right and center. its very easy being a fence sitter. what do yu know about newspaper business. zilch. Absolutely.
Don't you see the sacred space, can't you see the editorial quality, can't you see the Black and White on Sunday. I am not sayin all this becoz I am a passout from Times School of Jouranlism.
For in spite of writing on the same page as Nikhat Kazmi and Ratnottama Sengupta while pursuing the course, I couldn't get a placement, infact none of us got placements within the Times Group. But this is an objective appraisal of how a newspaper is run. And why shouldn't they promote their own products.
It will be downright foolish not to do it, if you have a platform such as Times.
Why can't anybody else even come remotely come close to threatening their supremacy in the national market. It is an era of marketing, so why shouldn't it be sold accordingly.
As long as the product is good, and people are buying it, then why not. The consumer is always right! Why don't you criticise Amitabh Bachchan for promoting greed. What's wrong in blond women! How do you compete with TV and the garish images thrown at will and plenty? Why is 'The Hindu' not a nationwide hit in spite of having the editorial quality which is mindboggling?
The picture quality matters. And when you are superstar of the stature of Hrithik Roshan and when you decide to marry surreptiously in the times when threats of the deadliest kind are doing the rounds, then he definitely deserves a front page.
It is about newsworthiness. And Hrithik-Suzanne is definite top notch news. Being honest need not be childish. Think about it. It is an honest opinion....
