Hi all, This is to let u all know that I received the replacement TV today. Though the condition of the cover (it was pressed from top and was torn at many places) gave me initial jitters, the TV inside was safe. And yes, it worked fine this time. Got the set up checked by the service engineer and o...nly after that signed the user satisfaction certificate. I must say here that, though the product gave me sad times initially, the customer support of Samsung is good. It took precisely 8 days for them to accept the complaint, get the approval for replacement from Delhi and replace the TV. All the while, the reps were polite, friendly and professional. But as far as the product is concerned, I must say that it was not the transit damage which made my TV’s picture go off, but the defect in the electronics itself. Initially, the picture used to hold after one or two switch off-ons. Later it needed 20-25 on-offs to settle down. Also I noticed that the problem was getting solved faster if the set was warmed up for 1-2 hours ( means keeping the set in stand-by or in ‘on’ state with no-picture condition with audio muted ). Later I found out a solution to watch the TV without getting the problem also!! I reduced the backlight to zero & increased the contrast and brightness to max, it worked! However, the picture quality was very poor with fog like pictures. All these experimentations ensured one thing- that this problem cannot come from transit damage. It HAS to be a circuit fault. This was confirmed when the service engineer came home to install the replacement TV. He said that it may be something to do with the ICs, or may be solderings. He also said that it is very much possible that the system might have been QC passed with just a brief switching on and testing. Hence my initial doubt of reputed companies not giving much importance to quality of the products sold in India and other ‘third world’ countries still holds good. Dear Thalai, I won't change my wife, but i wud certainly change the TV. I also know everytime u buy a thing, it need not function 100% perfectly. But when it happens with a company such as Samsung, it rises obvious questions about their so called 'quality product'. And, Thalai, I am not a foo...l. It does cost 61 k. right now the cost has come down by another 1000 rs, now it costs 60K. It is a 40 inch, 5 series, full HD Tv with dynamic contrast of 70000:1 and with PIP facility. Can u pls tell me where u saw a 40 inch LCD TV (any brand) for 35K?Read More

Hi Yamsid, I bought the Tv directly from the depot as I knew somebody working there. Hence I had to contact only customer care center and not the dealer. I think even in the case of purchasing the set from samsung gallery or from chains such as ezone, u will have to speak to customer care only!!. ...Can u imagine? in case of Samsung, for the customer care number you have to make an STD call!! 0120 is the code ( I think Gurgaon). It sucks. One will spend at least 20-25 Rs just make one initial call.God only knows how much money one has to spend if he has to make multiple calls...Its bad , u know.Read More

Hi Puneribond, Good review. But few clarifications. 1.R u sure it is Carl zeiss lens? i think its not. Also flash is not xenon, just LED flash. 2. How long hav u been using this fone? i have read and heard frm my frnds that it hangs up often. They say it has some software prb. They instead... recommend W 580i ( SE). Wat say?
