Reviewed Shantaram - Gregory David Roberts

Nov 12, 2009 12:14 PM 5003 Views

For all you people who have heard this name before, read further. For all those who haven't, it is one of those rare books that have made me look at life from an entirely new perspective. Well, to have a formal introduction, 'Shantaram' is a novel or you should say an autobiography by 'Gregory D...Read more

J: Well, that leaves nothing almost. R: I beg to differ here. There were areas where we were clearly better than the other teams. J: As in? R: There were many actually. 'Time taken by the team to disappear from the ground after every match', 'Efficiency of twelfth man (Irfan) in supplying essen...tials on the field' and last but not the least, we were clearly one of the better ‘looking’ teams in the tournament. J: You mean appearance? R: Ya. u see a live match is like a screen test for us. Producers watch us closely before approaching us . So one has to keep himself clean, fresh and camera friendly till the very end. J. Any regrets. R. Ya probably…some strategic failures…..we didn’t coach and support Bermuda properly for their crucial clash against Bangladesh. J: I meant players. Are they disappointed? How do you plan to cheer them now? R: Well.Ya.for some of the boys this was their first (and probably the last) trip to the Caribbean. They are disappointed for not finding enough time for shopping and sightseeing. I am personally planning to buy them souvenirs from the duty-free shop. J: Any positives that you carry back home? R: Well yes. Quite a few. Many of our players tested positive for drugs and two players were even tested HIV positive after spending night at a club. J: Future? What does it hold? R: We are in the process of finalizing some coaching assignments to work on specific areas? J: Like? R: Since Inzy has retired, we plan to rope him as our 'Running between the wickets' coach. If I go by my instincts then I am sure that you have taken a shot at the movie without actually watching it. Nothing about the movie man!! just mention the actors ( that too lead) and some general stuff about other areas of filmmaking. good going!! Nitin

Difficult to say what went wrong with the movie. And perhaps you are right. ' Uday is no SRK....'. Otherwise some of the recent flicks ( Salaam Namaste, Hum Tum) with lifted plots and similar themes have been highly successful. In the end one cant help but praise the directors desperate and succes...sful attempt to confuse the audience. By the end of the movie, its actually 'Na Tum Jano na Hum' for the poor director and hapless viewers. Your review was nice. Although you could have done better without the use of slang at certain places. Thanks NitinRead More

Going by ur ID 'findkhushi' and the time uve spent sporting this ID, im sure someone must have already found you. So u can now change it to 'found khushi'. Jokes apart , i was confused whether to like to movie or not. didnt like the story or the treatment, but liked the performances. On the serious... premise in my review, I thought of writing more abt my experience, but then i relised that this is not the right platform for doing that. your comment rocks too. thanks NitinRead More
