Hi, I bought Yamaha Gladiator last year after carefully scanning all options. You can read my review at: http://www.mouthshut.com/review/Yamaha_Gladiator-121770-1.html Its a great bike, with square engine (same dimensions of bore and stroke), resulting in very long life and smoothness of engi...ne, like legendary Yamaha RX-100. Yamaha Glady is 4 stroke like all competition(read economical, and greener), 5 gears (resulting in better mileage) against 4 gear in all competing bikes.Read More

I would recommend Yamaha Gladiator in 125 cc sergment. Honda Shine (125cc) is a trim down version of Honda Unicorn (150cc). Honda Shine doesnt match Yamaha Gladiator in any area. In 150 cc Honda Unicorn is appealing.

Very nicely summed up. I am driving Yamaha Gladiator for an year now, and I can vouch its fantastic bike. The two new models are just out, and include a tachometer now.

I have been driving Gladiator for over an year now and found it to be a fantastic bike in road handling. The bikes from Bajaj stable or any other makes in 100c or 125 cc just do not come in this category - Yamaha Gladiator is far superior to all of them. I guess you get your bike checked properly fo...r wheel balancing and other aspects.Read More

Yamaha Gladiator is a winner bike all thru. Its got square engine like legendry Yamaha RX100 - resulting in fine performance and durability, long life of engine. Yamaha has now added tachometer as well - kudos to them. Bajaj Pulsar 150 is a poor bike in comparison.

Hello Podiz, I feel u r taking the right decision. Unfortunately in India we have 'bhed chaal' or herd mentality. People just follow blindly rather than properly analysing the scenarios. Brgds

Background**: I was keen on either a 125 cc or a 150 cc bike - basically a commuter bike and not a sports one. I decided to settle for a 125 cc bike which gives me a perfect balance between refined engine, power requirements and mileage. I kept my budget between 50 K to 55 K(grand) for on-roa...Read more

Hello Suresh, Very well explained. In any case Bajaj bikes are quite problematic once the initial charm is gone. Brgds

Hi, A lot depends on driving style, city or highway conditions for the mileage. I got over 50 average on Gladiator 125 and it shud increase after first servicing I just had. I bought in mid Feb 07. My friend in a Delhi's satellite town Bahadurgarh has got avg of 60 on his new Gladiator. He bought... in mid March 07. Another friend is getting average of abt 68 km per litre, after 2 or 3 services. I will be quite happy with an average of around 55 kmpl in crowded West Delhi areas where my friends are getting 60 or above from Yamaha Gladiator. It gives you enough raw power and adequate average.Read More

Hi, I did an extensive research for the bike in 125 cc category, and finally landed up on Yamaha Gladiator. Its gear box and engine are world class, have 5 gears for better mileage. And its got power to compete with 150 cc bikes, best looks among all 125 cc bikes. And best part, I could notice a ...visible change in Yamaha service and customer relationship - its improved a lot after top management change. I considered 150 cc Pulsars also while analysing, but found that after 3 years or 30,000 kms they are invariably in very bad shape. Plus gear boxes are poor in Bajaj vehicles. They just concentrate on giving best possible looks and putting the latest styled meters, but a bike is much more than that ! Best RegardsRead More

Hi, I was in similar position before I finally opted for Yamaha Gladiator. I will first tell why i did not opt for Pulsar 150. Looks of a new Pulsar are decent, metering etc is quite advanced vis-a-vis the competetion. But after you have seen rationally a pulsar which has done about 3 years or... about 30,000 kms - you will doubt your decisions to go for such a bike. Invariably after 3-4 years of use (or misuse, to show off power) you find a Pulsar in real bad shape. My assessment: Bajaj Pulsar is good for people who want it for 3-4 years only, then will take a new bike. I wanted a bike to last much longer so I opted for Yamaha Gladiator. You may pl read my Gladiator review at the url: http://www.mouthshut.com/review/Yamaha_Gladiator-121770-1.html You may go thru the comments as well of the above review afterwards. Hello Pradeepji, Congrats on your purchase of the bike. I also started biking with a Bullet 350. As you are aware its engine runs at 5600 rpm, and has very low wear and tear. No other bike in India runs at this low rpm - thats why Bullet is unmatched in this respect. Its also heavier on pocket... due to low mileage of its 350 cc engine. In 125 cc class Gladiator is at comparatively low rpm of 7500 whereas other bikes are between 8000 to 8500 rpm. I found that Gladiator 125 offers me a balance between power (read torque) and TCO (total cost of ownership - initial cost as well running cost). Best wishesRead More

Hello Vijay, I dont agree to your classification of yours and other Gladiator owners as idiots who bought 125 cc when Yamaha is expected to bring 165 cc bike. If you look closely, the newer 165 cc Gladiator is a Sports bike whereas Gladiator 125 cc is a commuter bike. I for one, was interested in... a commuter bike only, thats why I opted for 125cc. Even if 165 cc was available, I wud still hv opted for 125 cc as it suits me fine. For Delhi roads I found alloy wheels adequate, I havent come across a single incident where anyone complained on that score. About facilities for attachments, I feel you know better and you may be right. But I was basically interested in a decent seat cover and a leg - guard, both I cud find easily. I will tell you why i did not opt for Pulsar. Looks of a new Pulsar are decent, metering etc is quite advanced vis-a-vis the competetion. But after you have seen rationally a pulsar which has done about 3 years or about 30,000 kms - you will doubt your decisions to go for such a bike. About Yamaha CRM - Its improving. I waited for my first servicing today before replying to you. I didnt find the experience unpleasant. It was quite comfortable while I watched my bike being serviced to my satisfaction. I read in reports that Mr T. Ishikawa took charge this year beginning of Yamaha India, and he has turned around Yamaha in Thailand, alongwith his team. He is doing just the same in India. In next couple of years Yamaha is investing Rs 800 crores in India. I have an interest in management issues, and keep reading such stuff. Best RegardsRead More

I was thinking of going in for a 125cc or a 150cc bike, and was having difficulty in deciding. But having test-driven Yamaha Gladiator 125 cc, I settled for it. Now I have economy of 125 cc, a very powerful 125 cc Yamaha engine which easily takes on 150 cc bikes, 5 gears, good looks, no gimmicks...Read more

We should extend the adage 'In Rome, do as the Romans do', to 'Buy a product from Industry Leader' for that particular product. IFB's washing machines are the best, but you will be washed away if you are buying their Taiwanese product like Microwave. I have come across a lot of people buying ...IFB Microwave on the basis of IFB's earned reputation on washing machines, and are then disappointed. I liked your description for IFB - 'Increase Financial Burden'. After a while it becomes 'I'm Fully Besieged' for the buyer, due to poor service rendered.Read More
