Reviewed Hyundai Santro Xing

It's a title I luv to tease my friends owning a Santro. I had the experience of driving a fully loaded Santro and the Xing as well, belonging to my friends for quite a few kilometers. Past 4 to 5 minutes of driving one realizes that, this is not the most driver friendly car. Compared to the W...Read more

I have been living in Pune for the past two years. My experience with the locals has been worst when on the streets. Pune's status is nothing beyond driving two wheeler's. I have an Esteem in which I commute 40 Kms. daily and these guys either won't let me enough space on the road or they bounce on ...to my bonnet or come right in front with Hi-beams. 90% Pune drives with Hi-beam on. And in my hometown Mumbai, I used to yell at an odd guy who would be erring. Your right indicator theory is entirely correct but, it would be very difficult to change as most truck, bus and regular car drivers on the highway all over India use their right indicators to give way, they just slide a lil' left on the road as they indicate. I personally have had no problems with this till date. IF I WERE TO MAKE A WISH ON SAFE DRIVING. 'I WOULD HAVE ALL PUNEITES SENT TO MUMBAI TO GET GOOD DRIVING LESSONS'Read More

I entirely agree with you Mr. Venurajagopal. At high speeds braking is a bit uncomfortable.

Even my big 1997 Esteem gives me 16-18 KMPL on highway. My 800 used to give me still better, mind you 1989 model. What if a Volvo was to speed by your Santro on the Highway. It would be doing a Rock-n-Roll. While playing cricket even a hard hit tennis ball makes a dent in the Santro. Mind you... KIA Motors sells the highest no. of vehicles in S.Korea and S.E. Asia. The vehicles are much much better. Do take the opportunity of a Test drive when they come to India. Whatever said and done, the Japanese are the best on the Eastern hemisphere. We are friends. No hard feelings. Drive Safely.Read More

Mumbai is over burdened. Somewhere the influx need to stop. I agree with Mrs. Medha. Infact a lot of thought has gone in when they talk of Shanghai like turnaround. It will happen and I can see the difference each time I come back from Pune.

I have travelled across the country but still overall roads not only in Mumbai but, all over Maharashtra are a lot better than in any other states. There are good roads in the interiors as well. As for our taxes they go for developments in Bihar and UP still they are the poorer state thanks to our g...reat politicians starting from 1947. Atleast, the whole of cities roads are concrete ones which will not trouble us for the next few decades. I agree there are a few blocks and bad roads too but, when I try to compare it with other cities they are fair enough. Of Shanghai well, we do not have dictatorship. It is we the citizens who will have to make it look beautiful. And not that the city fathers and civic authorities are doing nothing I was on the Eastern and Western E-H-way during my visit last month. They are more greener better treelined and most importantly faster. rest blame it on the increasing no. of vehicles especially autos in North Mumbai. Kudos Mumbai Traffic Police for maintaining good traffic discipline in the city.Read More

That is what I like to call it. Try observing the Santro's in your city. One finds that most have been hit on their sides especially near the hinges of the front door. I will tell you why. It's because the Santro provides one of the worst views from the driver's seat. Bachcha Gaddi is the oth...Read more

I am put up in Pune for the past two years. I drive down in my Esteem everyday to work from Chinchwad to Navi Peth. Life is difficult on Pune roads. Cyclists riding in the middle of the road, Two wheelers cutting lanes constantly almost hoping on to my bonnet many a times, female kind stopping right... in the middle of the road or driving at 10 kmph right in the middle. They just don't bother or keep any courtesy for their fellow citizens. I would have felt like slapping the Maruti guy and the Biker as well.Read More

Your comments on Pune Traffic to the video clipping uploaded by Rupali are apt. It is worst. But, your comment on Mumbai traffic being still worst is grossly wrong. I have been born and brought up in Mumbai. I drive my Esteem here, for the past two years I've been in Pune and no second thoughts Mumb...ai traffic is 100000 times better than Pune and most cities in India considering the no. of vehicles it is much much more disciplined. Influx from Northern India has seen some indiscipline creeping into the city. One fine example are the autos in the suburbs who hardly observe lane discipline and all of us know what majority is on behind the wheels.Read More

For a hatch, the upper version of the duo does have many of the features of a good sedan. The vehicle looks more stylish then its predecessor, especially near the head/tail lights. The three spoke steering & dials are definately jazzy. For those owning one, fuel efficiency reviews would be more ...beneficial for future buyers. The reviews about the lubrication were getting very interesting, some good inputs for all. Wish to know more about valve jamming in LPG & CNG Mr. ss11011.Read More

As a customer for one & half yrs I find the bank to be the worst I have ever banked with. I remember, I had to yell out inside Apte Road Branch, Pune to have another counter for cash transactions after frequent request with the staff. There was only one counter open between 0830 to 0900 HRS when eve...ryone wants to rush to office with atleast 20 people waiting for their turn. Once without my knowledge they put my SB account money into FD temporarily & I could not withdraw it from the ATM when it was most needed. The ATM servvice is pathetic, during month end and beginning of the month you'll always find queues stretching on to the road. This is a common sight. I could go on endlessly but...Read More

The Mumbai Traffic Police is the best I have seen anywhere in India. Controlling a city with the highest density of traffic needs exceptional hard work, smartness & discipline. They maintain a lot of discipline and people do obey them hence, there is a lot of discipline. Too think of the huge influx... of indisciplined people from the north. If you hapen to travel there you will notice the difference, most corrupt, most inefficient and negligent policing can be seen almost everyday.Read More

You just cannot compare AMD Police to Mu Po, there's a hell lot of difference. As for Mr. Hemant's grievance I do understand but then, there are parents who come in with complaints of a missing child, etc which are more serious than mobiles & two wheelers, the police has to deal with diverse situati...ons like thefts, murders, rapes, bandobast, naka bandi & what not. They are surely over burdened with meagre wages. I wouldn't blame them. Notice the no. of suicides amongst these policemen, not each one keeps a good handphone with him, sums up everything.Read More

The B.E.S.T. service is utilised by the masses and not the class of Mumbai.Tickets have to be affordable. They are surely not in profits but, has anyone given a thought to the average speed of a bus in Mumbai traffic ( does not even touch 12 kmph and the average fuel consumption won't go above 3.5 k...pl and the diesel price is ever increasing. Other options are on the way but, all this takes time to get implemented. Can't we ever look at the positive side of things like the hi-quality of service that no other citizen of any city in this country enjoys. Ever thought the buses are well painted, done up, no seats torn, floors are clean. Young folks do spoil it some times with some of their great ideas but, it disappears in couple of days. Well we never paid attention just got a P & L of the Public services, says it all. How do we change ourselves?Read More
