Not the BEST of Service. Review on BEST - State

Somehow I feel BEST (Bombay Electric Supply and Transport) does not provide the best of service it should provide, if managed properly Best can never run into loss it is running into now a days, and the government apathy toward it totally disgusting and the government knows that the public is so dependent on this service that it knows anyhow people will adjust whatever be the circumstances. BEST today must be the one of the largest provider of jobs after the Railways and it practically covers the whole Mumbai and neighboring places like Navi Mumbai and Thane. But the ever exploding population of Mumbai and it sisters are putting a lot of burden on the already less transport system of Mumbai. To give you a fair bit idea of it here’s an ex: The maximum limit a suburban Railway train bogie or compartment can carry is about 1500 including standees but a staggering 7000 people travel in it. This is the amount of burden the system carries everybody and the same goes for BEST, but instead of increasing the buses they have already stopped the Double Decker buses that carry twice as much as a Single Decker for reasons known to BEST only. More than that their public relations are one of the worst one could ever find according to me here are some of the reasons for their bad P.R:

1) All BEST drivers think they are Michael Schumacher and they own the road.

2) There is always no CHANGE with the conductor and he stops the us and you have to get down or he will write the balance on the back of the ticket and you have to go to some place to get that change which many people avoid.

3) The rude behavior of the conductor and somehow seats reserved for women or handicapped get their full justice.

4) And many more we will find ,the list goes endless.

BEST also deals in supplying electricity but they will do anything else but supply electricity at a constant rate and that to without any scams of this kind of the other. Everyday we hear people paying electricity that they have never used and people never pay for the electricity that they have used. This always goes unchecked because of the total lack of devotion or any commitment towards their job. Why cannot there be transparency in the working of the organization or are there any steps taken to address the problems faced by honest tax paying consumers and good public relations. If the authorities take bold steps or initiatives and take the help of consumers in addressing the problems instead of “We Will Get Back To You” attitude all his can change and BEST will hopefully come to that stage where revenues will be in surplus and hope fully their PR can get better, Wish Them Luck.
