There is only one difference between Airtel & BSNL modem settings. For Airtel, the VPI/VCI is 1/32, but for BSNL, I don't remember exactly, but I think it was 1/30 or 1/31. Other than that, there is no difference. You can try. https://sites.google.com/site/kundanburnwal/usingbsnltype-24modemwithair...telRead More

@beamhelpdesk: now its your turn to show some courtesy and professionalism to @reddybhai. He's genuinely facing issues and its time that you guys took customers seriously. You can't be here to give thumbs up to my genuine positive reviews alone and give no response to genuine negative reviews. @re...ddybhai: i'm really sorry to hear this. Why don't you try and contacting the supervisor first: insist on reaching him once you reach customer care, threaten them to file consumer court case is satisfactory answer is not provided. Then also if you don't get a satisfactory response, persist to have an appointment with Nodal officer AP and get contact details. Try using strong language. It usually helps. This is one very big issue with Beam Customer support that instead of resolving 1 issue, they keep closing tickets and opening new ones everytime you call. @beamhelpdesk: its high time you make this improvement the number 1 thing on your to-do list to discuss with senior management. @reddybhai: keep me posted on this. if you don't get your thing sorted out, then let me know. The first thing I'll do is remove all my stars for customer support.Read More

1 thing which I really don't want mouthshut.com to become is: a medium for expressing angers and frustrations in a biased manner. Let's not expect that anyone is going to serve you 100% all the time. You may have good and bad experiences. Reviews posted on mouthshut should be given in a fair and fac...tual manner, rather than emotional manner. I really find mouthshut to be about 70-80% time full of negative reviews and very less positive reviews, even if the product/service is actually good. Mouthshut should be a platform for people to help them buy something good, not as a medium for only negative reviews. Even worse, I've seen lot of services improving radically over time. Generally, when something is just launched, the service levels are more often than not poor. And they give a bad first impression to user. So bad reviews get posted. However, with time, unless the management is really screwed up, services improve a lot over time. In such cases, I highly recommend members to update their experiences with time. Otherwise, pure negative reviews just don't help anyone - it creates more confusion among the buyers - they see everything is rated badly.Read More

After I was pissed off with recent moves of ISPs like BSNL & Airtel to really change the definitions of Unlimited internet (unlimited 2 Mbps in Airtel means you'd get upto 2 Mbps upto usage of about 15 GB and thereafter 256 Kbps - which sucks and similar capping by BSNL), I was forced to trying ...Read more

@kizar_hussain: if you see the comment posted by me below, I had used UTStarcom Wireless Router/AP, but even with that it allowed only one connection. Anyways, the good news is that I shifted to a new home long back and there, Airtel had its broadband service! So I immediately switched to Airtel, a...nd believe me, it has been working like a charm! Absolutely flawless! Yes, it's a little more expensive, but its worth it! The professionalism of Reliance people came into light even while terminating the connection. It was quite an effort to do so. And after that, I called up customer care several times so that someone comes and picks up the Telephone handset & modem. They give some time, and nobody turns up. I even went to their Regional Head office in Somajiguda, Hyderabad, and met officers in person, so that somebody should come and collect the stuff, but to this date, nobody came! (I was just being good to them! but probably they don't need it!)Read More

The review was supposed to be of BSNL as a 3G service provider, but it completely misses that. No technical details are mentioned. It is not a wikipedia page or a news page where you need to describe what 3G is, how is it different from 2G and things like that, news items like spectrum auction and a...ll. Mouthshut is NOT meant for that.Read More

Hi max_techie: Thanks for your valuable comments.. As far as I'm aware of, (and I cross checked) most speed testing sites, be it 2wire.com or speedtest.net, or even the ADSL status page of most modems provide speed in kpbs (connection speed is measured in kbps & download speed in kBps), not kBps.... Ya, I'm very much aware of this fact. So, when I mentioned 20 kbps, I meant 30 kilobits per second, and not 30 kilobytes per second. Yes! sounds unbelievable, but true.. Much lesser than Dialup, for what they call it broadband. But this speed problem has been mainly in the late evening to night time. And these days, I'm getting close to 300 kbps most of the times, provided it works! (I had been spending almost 1 hour everyday fighting with Customer Care & Technical Support people after coming back from office to get it to work, and invariably, it is extremely unreliable. Finally, the tech-support team figured out there is a problem with their setup in my area and they've kept it on observation) Secondly, I'm also using a wireless AP+Router from UTStarcom, but even while using that, it doesn't allow the second user to connect to internet. I login only once from the 1st laptop, and for the second laptop, it again asks for username and password (and it doesn't take it on the second laptop). I complained about this to customer care folks and they simply refused to support it. Said it's not their job. I asked them for a demo at their premises just to show that it is technically feasible, but they simply refused.. The Modem they've provided me has 2 LAN ports and even on that if I connect two laptops, only one can have internet at a time (same problem as what happens with Wi-Fi). I followed lots of forum posts on this, but looked like nobody has been successful in doing that. I guess now, I know the problem: I need a router setup, not a hub setup. My AP was working like a hub now @max_techie: I'll get in touch with you personally to get this thing working for me.Read More

Hi Ruby: as far as I've seen in 2 years.. Airtel broadband people in Bangalore have been very helpful overall. Remember the time the Flag telecom Atlantic cable was cut by a ship? For almost 2-3 days, there was an almost complete blackout of Internet service. BSNL Dataone was down for almost 7-12 da...ys in at least BTL Layout area, bangalore, siting the same reason and even call centers had to shut their operations for a day due to no internet connectivity. Even i thos days, Airtel broadband was up in less than 8 hours, though with a reduced speed. Once I had problem with broadband and it was attended to by an Airtel guy within 15 minutes. I know this is way too good, but generally their SLA in my area says that if your landline is not brought into order within 4 working hours (Mon-Fri 9:00-6:00) then you get a refund of Rs 100/- in the next bill. In Hyderabad, where I'm now, I've heard their SLAs stating that if broadband is not fixed in 24 working hours, you get upto 30% waiver in your rental of that month (unless for excpetional circumstances lbeyond their control like one which happened on Atlantic cable). I feel this is really awesome!Read More

As far as I know, yes.. Airtel does charge for Itemised billing on paper if delivred by courier (Rs.50/-) for Mobile Postpaid only. It doesn't charge for Itemised bill for Broadband/landline. Secondly, check with customer care, because generally, Airtel sends itemised bill for free on email of the r...egisterd subscriber. I have been an airtel broadband subscrier twice in two different locations, though in metros. They're simply the best ISP in India both in terms of reliability and service, in my opinion. Dataone service is worst, though their speeds are higher. I've never heard about Vodafone broadband. Are you talking about their EDGE card? Or wired DSL/ADSL broadband? or WiMax broadbad?Read More

Hello, I've not written any reviews yet but have a fairly long experience with most telecom operators. I've used BSNL (both Prepaid & postpaid), Airtel (both Prepaid and Postpaid), Spice (now Idea) Prepaid, Reliance CDMA (both Prepaid and Postpaid), Vodafone (prepaid) since 2001 in multiple circles...: Gujarat, Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh. Overall Airtel has come a long way over the last 3-5 years in customer service. Overall, yes, Airtel does have lots of issues in their entire system itself: seems to be lots of disconnects and inconsistencies. They're very good at handling L1 customer support (front-ending), but looks like their backend systems or people are not as good, or the management is not so good. But believe me, Airtel is bad, but you know what? Others are much much worse at Customer service.. Vodafone is non-sensical that ways. When I see their 'Happy to help' board, I feel like kicking them on their a**. At least Airtel people are much more professional (at least in Karnataka, be it on phone customer service rep, or in their outlets, they at least demonstrate real good professionalism). Vodafone folks are so bad that for most prepaid customers, they allow only 1-2 calls to customer service representatives from each customer in a month in Karnataka. In UP (e) circle, they charge for accessing customer support representative for 2nd call onwards in a month, and even then, they're so much unprofessional. And if you need to talk to them beyond a month in Karnataka, you need to search for a friend's Vodafone. BSNL, as usual has really good products, but horrible services. It is a pain to get a BSNL postpaid connection with ISD, Roaming, GPRS and all. And for service, in Hyderabad, for every little thing, they ask to go to nearest Customer Service Center. They cannot resolve most things on phone. Among the possible options, I know, all of them are bad, but if I've to choose one for myself,I'd always choose Airtel: best service & they are much more profRead More
