MS Friends by know u would have heard technology advancements happening around & would have surely come across the technology 3G, well here's what it is.

So what is 3G?

With a 3G phone and access to the 3G network you can send and receive video calls, **watch live TV, access the internet, receive emails and download music tracks, as well as the usual voice call and messaging services found on a mobile phone.

*The main difference between 3G and 2G networks is how quickly data can be sent and received. 3G networks can send data up to 40 times the rates of earlier digital networks, which means that in addition to audio, graphics and text, 3G customers can also send and receive video content, in 3G coverage areas. They provide service at 5-10 Mb per second.

After MTNL's Jadoo in Delhi, BSNL has launched 3G services in Chennai. The city will now be able to experience the magic of faster internet on mobile phones.

Voice tariff schemes begin from a fixed monthly charge of Rs.350 for prepaid and Rs 500 for postpaid. Data subscriptions are available starting at Rs 250. BSNL has also tied up with Nokia, Sony and Samsung for handset bundling, the cheapest of which is priced at Rs.7, 000. State-owned telecom service providers MTNL and BSNL have received the spectrum required to commence offering third generation or 3G services prior to private telecom players in the Indian market.

But still we do have a long way to go as Spectrum allocation is yet to be clarified.

India's federal government will "definitely" complete the auction of third-generation, or 3G, radio bandwidth by the end of 2009, according to Telecommunications Ministry .

The government originally planned to auction radio bandwidth, or spectrum, for 20 of India's 22 telecom service areas last October. But the move has been deferred twice after the finance ministry suggested that the starting price of INR20.20 billion be doubled.

The above review posted here was just to share my info that I had & please forgive me if this info is already posted .
