In TATA Safari Dicor, the common rail system employed is a second generation common rail, but it has some problem with it's TP System and suffers a very irritating throttle lag...

Dear Liar,
I used to work for the company who made your glorified Dicor Common rail Injection System. That is Delphi Automotive Systems or now Delphi E&S… So bad that you don’t understand the 3.0ltr archaic pushrod engine is a straight lift from earlier 407 and 207DI platforms… Those engines are me...ant for load haluing not for speed. Have you ever heard about power to weight ratio and torque to weight ratio? Do you know at 2.2ton Kerb weight your Dicor has the worst power to weight ratio in all SUVs and so calles SUVs including TATA Sumo Turbo???? Given 30minutes time and enough road Safari DICOR will not hit 180kmph as you claimed, cos it will redline and max out at 145…Now if you have real wind assistance (tail wind); in your terminology wind blowing on your dirty fat shitty ass, it might do a 150… but then that’s it hold to that speed for long its pushrods will crack your balls.. Do you know the DICOR redlines at just 3000RPM? Do you know why? Because it is supposed to be a pushrod low RPM load hauling engine. A good one at that in fact… But you look for higher RPM engines on a passenger car… Pushrods are from 1940s. People use Overhead CAMs these days… DO you have a slight idea of what I am talking? I am talking about the stuff that operate valves…

This person doesn't seem to know any thing about cars or atleast about Innova...Please let me know whether have you ever driven it? Innova has one of the best power to weight ratios and Safari Dicor fits the bill of most of your remarks about being lazy and alll. Comfort, space inside, and ride all ...are better in Innova compared to other counterparts in the same price range...Please don't waste our time by writing anymore reviews...Read More

2) Tubeless Tires:- Tubeless tires are a bit more expensive, but they are more puncture resistant. But all roadside mechanics won’t be able to fix them if you get a flat. You can get puncture kits for these tires, but you should be in a position to guide a roadside mechanic in case of any punc...tures. Tire blowouts are very very rare in tubeless tires. Also for emergency you can carry a tube with you and in case of puncture you can put it in and make to the nearest proper tire shop. As such I don’t think there is any separate maintenance required for tubeless tires different from normal tires with tube.Read More

The rule of thump for tire selection for upsizing is, if you want to increase the diameter of the wheel rim, you need to decrease the profile and vice versa(to increase the profile decrease dia of the rim). This is because if you increase both, there is every probability that your tire will touch to...p of the wheel arches when driving at high speed in a fully loaded condition, which is quite dangerous and could lead to a tire blowout. Same way if you increase the tire width too much it would touch the innards of wheel arches while taking tight turns.
A lower profile tire gives, better handling and crispy steering responses and less tire noise in the cabin. But it also deteriorates the ride quality to a great extend on Indian roads. On higher end cars this deterioration in ride quality is improvised by sophisticated suspension setups they have.
But as far as Baleno goes, everything is built for a price, so lower profile tires will definitely deteriorate your ride quality to some extend. The reason why MUL has set up such thin tires are economical, both in terms of manufacturing costs and the slightly higher fuel efficiency it gives. So be prepared for a drop of 0.5 - 1kms, when you upsize your tires.
Another thing against going for a too low profile tubeless tires is Indian roads. If you run your wheels on steel discs instead of alloy/mag wheels, because of the lower profile, the impact of bad roads on wheel discs/rims will be great, as a result they get bent easily and the air loses from tubeless tires. Alloy wheels don’t bend, they just break if the force is very great, hence they don’t require wheel balancing either. Hence, it is advisable to go for alloy/mag wheels if you take up the low profile tubeless path.

Santanu,
Well, let me try to answer your questions one by one I don’t call myself an expert, but I have this passion for cars.
1) Buying a Baleno:- If I were to buy a Baleno, I would have definitely got me a set of new bigger tires. The reason is simple, Baleno is a very capable car in ter...ms of performance, but as far as I know, it comes factory fitted with 165 / 80 R 13, which are way too tiny for a car that could do 185kmph. But I heard that the Baleno VXI version comes with 185/70R13, which would be okay!!
If you are really interested in knowing about tires, let me give you my 50cents on it…
For a tire with rating given as 205/65 R15 95H…
205 indicates the nominal section width of the tire in millimeters (205mm).
65 indicates its aspect ratio, a comparison of the tire's section height with its section width (65 indicates the height is 65% of its width).
R indicates radial ply construction.
15 indicates the nominal diameter of the wheel rim (15 inches)
95H is a symbol indicating the maximum load capacity and speed at which the tire can be safely operated, subject to the tire being in sound condition, correctly fitted, and with recommended inflation pressures (95 represents a maximum load of 690kg per tire; H represents a maximum speed of 210km/h).
The speed rating symbol table for a tire is as given below
Speed Symbol Maximum speed (km/h)
N 140
P 150
Q 160
R 170
S 180
T 190
U 200
H 210
V 240
Z 240
W 270
Y 300
For a Baleno mainly you can have two tire choices, which are straight fit; 185/70R13 and 185/65R14. I am not sure whether you can go to another size, which is available in the imported tires, may be a 195/65 R14, as far as I know, no Indian car comes with this tire. Please make sure you get a speed rating of T or U for a Baleno.
