My fav 20!

This is really tough. I mean am just a regular person, I enjoy music, hum, sing sometimes in the shower and among friends, but have never really sat down and categorised my fav 20, so I thought why not. Lately I haven’t been able to get the Kid Rock song off my head and listen to it all the time. I have these phases I go through when I like a song and listen to it all the time, but then I wondered, which are the songs I would love listening to at any given time and wow, it took me an awful lot of time to shortlist 20. But yeah these are songs I could listen to anytime, they are absolutely me all time favs!

  1. Free falling - Tom Petty

Can anyone deny Tom Petty his first place? Immortalized my another tom in Jerry McGuire. I love the feel of the song. On any karaoke night, I’d love to take the mike and sing this one.

  1. Two steps behind- Def Leppard

This song is my all time Fav, I remember the first time I heard this song, I was bowled over, I continue to play it over and over again on my tape. love and hate collide is my other fav, but 2 steps takes the cake, mind blowing lyrics and some great guitar.

  1. Yellow- Coldplay

“Look at the stars, Look how they shine for you, And everything you do, Yeah they were all yellow,

I came along, I wrote a song for you, And all the things you do, And it was called yellow”

I adore coldplay, they even created their own forest with enough trees to absorp all the C02 that was created during the production, manufacture and Distribution of their Cd’s.

‘yellow’ is by far one of my greatest love.

  1. Omaha- Counting Crows

Though the band was strongly identified with modern rock, their sound is actually a throwback to country-tinged 1970s classic rock. ‘August and Everything After’ is a great album and I could list out probably every single song in it Mr Jones, Round Here, But I love Omaha!

  1. Picture- Kid Rock & Sheryl Crow

This song works on all levels. Seedy yet romantic, two cheating lovers long to change their addictive ways and hope for redemption. The lyrics are awesome, not an untrue unwanted word!

  1. Mrs Robinson- Simon and Garfunkel

I’ve grown up listening to them, but this CD is prolific, an upbeat classic, it lifts my moods, with its soft music and heavenly beats.

  1. Time of my life- Dirty Dancing

Dirty Dancing was a phenomenon like Grease. It is awfully hard not to get swept up into the nostalgic heat and sentiment of this unabashedly, and well-done, teen romance.

  1. Blowin in the wind

  2. Like a rolling stone

  3. Maggie’s farm

  4. Times they are a changing

Am a hard core Dylan fan, my friends crib that they hate coming to my house coz am always playing Dylan and leave them with no choice. The guitar and harmonica combo makes me bow down to the greatest musician of all times.

12.Kiss me- Six pence none the richer

The shiney guitars at the beginning. The very romantic lyrics, and the great vocals, it’s a very fresh summery kinda song. The band has a unique sound thanks to the songwriting of Matt Slocum. Listen to the song and you actually come out ‘richer’.:)

  1. Cruisin- Gwyneth Paltrow & Huey Lewis

Huey Lewis is absolutely in his element here. From the movie, ‘duets’, this is the song that gave it life. Boy and can Gwyneth Paltrow sing! Their voices complement eachother very well and the song is very easy on the ears and you could play it over and over agin and not ever get sick of it.

  1. American Pie- Don McLean

The songs a classic, and there is no doubt whatsoever. American pie retains five stars and retains the quintessential charm of recordings from the time of Bob Dylan. And it absolutely deserves a place in the list of top 20 of anyone who considers themselves a rock aficionado.

  1. You're the one that I want- Grease

The songs just a lot of fun and reminds  me immensely of the good old western group we had in college. We won the first prize after we sang this number. The music is stylishly 50's and you can hear yourself sing just as soon as the song begins.

  1. Patience- Guns n Roses

This song is absolute poetry. I love the band, love all their songs and it was really difficult to choose a fav, but patience it is.

  1. Somethin' Stupid- Robbie williams & Nicole Kidman

This remake of the old Frank Sinatra number is a pleasure to listen too. Made to sound original with modern sounds, it retains its old charm. The song's beautiful and romantic and Nicole after her debut singing in Moulin Rouge- proves yet again that she definitely can sing.

  1. Annies Song - John Denver

I love the lyrics of this song, and though I love all songs of John denver, this surpasses ever single one. This is way up there.

'you fill up my senses.'

  1. Blind Man- Aerosmith

Blind man is a sexy song and Aerosmith's one of the sexiest rock bands of all times. the song has excellent lyrics, starts off on a slow note and then yes its tyler screaming his lungs out.

  1. Think about you- Bryan Adams

I have been listening to Bryan Adams for ever and he's gotto be my all time fav singer. I love every single song he's sung. I've wished and prayed night long for a voice like his and gone through bouts of depression when I missed his concert.

Choosing a fav among his songs was the toughest.
