I just bought an Ambassador Classic 1.5 E2 DSL and I must say I was amazed to find the features it comes with.... Perfect for busy city traffic.
Body
The Ambassador or Amby has always had a sturdy body. The exteriors have been worked out fully... from headlights to tail lamps, everything looks modern. Except that the body is still less aerodynamic compared to other cars, but who needs aerodynamics inside the city?
Engine
It comes with a powerful 4 cylinder-1500CC engine, with a 4-speed gearbox synchromesh on 2nd, 3rd and 4th. It has a mileage of around 14kmpl in city traffic (haven't tried it in highway!!) and runs on low sulfur diesel. It also conforms to EuroII and BharatII standards.
Interior
As usual, the interior of an Amby is quite spacious, with enough head room and leg room. Officialy it can carry upto 6 passengers, including the driver, but I know that its capacity is much much more. The seats are plush and ergonomically designed, with an arm rest in the middle of the backseat. Seat Belts are provided not only for the front seat passengers but also for the rear seat passengers. The front seats comes in either bench form or bucket form, which the buyer can select. The dashboard also has prefitted fan blowers, and the display screen is also quite compact and clear.

The car comes with tinted glasses and radial tyres. The suspension is also very good, which takes in the jerkings of city roads. The boot has been modified so that the extra tyre is separated and doesn't come in between the luggages. It also comes with a First-Aid kit, a well-written user's manual and a set of some commonly used tools.
To sum up, the Amby has both the qualities of a modern-day car as well as a strong and sturdy body. The maintainence cost of an Amby is also pretty low, which makes its overall running cost low. The shape is one thing the Amby could change in its future models, but the overall advantages of the car makes it the perfect vehicle to rule the city roads.
