It's a myth that full interest is paid during initial years. A look at an amortization schedule will clear that doubt. Principal with us is high during initial years and hence the interest paid too.

@ushavinay05, Let's say you have a loan of 1 Lac If you continue Interest paid per year @14% = 14,000 If you switch Interest paid per year @ 8.5% = 8500 Preclosure charge = 3000 Total = 11500 Which means, in the first year itself you save 2500 per lac. Second year onwards you save 55...00 per lac. If your loan is 40 lacs (like mine was), the savings is 1 lac the first year (after preclosure @3%) and 2.2 lacs in the second year. NOTE: You'll make payment towards principal, of about 1500 or 2000 per lac per annum and that is ignored in the interest calculation as it is not significant.Read More

Ford dealers aren't the best, in many parts of the country. Spares aren't exactly cheap either. So make sure you buy a car in good condition and doesn't have to repair it often. I wouldn't completely agree with the best time to visit being Dec-Feb. August-September, immediately after the monsoon, the fort is at its best with lush green all around. Probably not the best time for a swim in the sea, but definitely the best time to see the fort.
