Totally agree... I just attended over this weekend in Bangalore. And I must tell you that while it might work for a few weak hearted people and women (especially fighting petty relationship issues) it's NOT going to work for all.
And most of the time, they are involved in their cheap marketing ta...ctics that work like the pyramid scheme (though without money benefits for members). Once you are in their trap, you are their puppet and you keep on signing up with more and more of their programs (else you are branded spineless, unconcerned etc in their public speech)
Well, a few good souls say it worked for them. But I feel these people are big frauds. If you read all those articles on the web, there's more criticism than good words.Read More

I totally agree with your rating. It's a good engine and transmission box put in a great exterior design but indianized cheap plastics/fabric/carpet screwed up the whole thing. Also, the rear A/c went is almost sitting on the private parts of the middle passenger lol.

I liked its engine and exterior looks. Back seat space, pathetic dashboard/door panel plastics and fabric is a major let down. If they had spent another lakh on that I would have definitely bought this car though getting used to misplaced controls will take some time.

@manojnair.m, sorry.. I read your comment only now. You can use one of those online tools such as http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html to do proper upszzing without changing the circumference by +/- 2 to 4%.
@subinp, as you rightly said, I could only talk from my test drive experience. It wo...uld be great if you write a review here about your ownership experience. Regardless, the product is hugely overpriced. Since I did this review, they have added fog lamps, alloys etc in the Inspire variant but that would cost you 10L ex-showroom and it's foolishness to spend that much on a smaller car where as you get a Corolla or Civic for another lakh or two more.Read More

In compression/cooling technologies I would think that Hitachi is the best! However, as you rightly pointed out the after sales service may be a problem unless you live in big cities in India. I hope they improve it.
I am planning to buy this model soon along with a 1.2 ton split A/C from Hitachi.... Hope the service quality is better in Bangalore.Read More

@Raju it's a tough decision though you have to preempt i10 first - it's not a good option if you are looking for minimum luxury. Out of the remaining two, Swift is a peppy car which is fun to drive but the backseat space is very less. Moreover, due to very low wheelbase, the stability will not be as... good as premium hatches like punto. You can consider this only if you are bothered about yourself as a driver.
i20 has changed big time since I wrote my review. The boring interior design has more or less taken care of now with the new variant. I strongly suggest you to go for the new i20 out of the three. By the way, it doesn't make much sense to go for the top end variant that costs like 7.5L ex-price.

Almost all fords have this problem of having tighter power steering which is actually good at higher speeds but not very convenient in the city. I used to like my Ikon's PS thought which was hydrollic and not electronic. However, gear shift is really bad. As for the visibility thing, I have the same... problem with my Altis as well... Right hand side road ahead is hardly visible due to a black spot near the mirrors..and unlike Honda city and SX4, they don't have a quarter window there.Read More

@haroo, did you already buy one? If not, my pick would be an Optra Magnum Diesel that provides comfort, decent mileage, amazing power and it's packed with features as well. I wouldn't recommend a Corolla Altis J as it's heavily underloaded when it comes to features. You may go for it only if it's a ...prestige issue to own a Toyota. My second pick would be Innova that drives almost like a sedan. SX4 is a big no as it drives like a bullock cart and too thirsty. And I didn't quite like the ANHC.

Definitely most other cars (in all segments) are costlier than Maruti Suzukis to maintain. i20 is no different.

@skm1971, i20 and Fabia have their own plus-minus points. Both comes loaded with features but none is a clear winner. I only wish fabia had a little more power in which case I would have chosen it.

Nice review buddy and congrats on your first car. When you go for Marutis you get mileage, reliability and good after sales service. As you rightly said, any Maruti (Swift or WagonR or Ritz...) unless you go for the heighest configuration they will deprive you off bare necessities such as headrests,... rear defogger etc.

The interiors are not exactly laxurious but some features that come with only with upper C-seg cars are already present in i20. That's what I meant :) Just like you, I hate all Korean products...... I have decided never to buy a Hyundai or LG in my life (though I like Samsung for only their monitors and BELL for the nail trimmers lol). In fact, I hate all American cars probably except a Ford Explorer or Jeep Grand Cherokee (not that I have driven them). I agree with you on the general Indian mindset about quantity rather than quality.

In fact, all cars in India are overpriced for their build quality and features offered. I would assume that a Maruti 800 should come below 1.5 lakhs as they don't have any good quality steel on it :) Tata cars... hmm, no comments. Yet to drive Manza
The car pricing is not always due to ...the manufactures being greedy. Our government has really stupid rules that allows excise sops to be made available to cars below 4000mm in length and 1.2L in capacity. Hence most sedan prices go up. To make it worse, cars above an ex-price of 10L has really strange road tax rules in cities like Bangalore.
