I purchased a Hitachi 3 door refrigerator (Hitachi R-S31SVND) in Chennai in Jan-2010. I liked the 3 door concept and it is very nice. lots of space in freezer. Removable Vegetable and Freezer racks was also very nice. But we don't have lights for vegetable and Freezer. Because of this, it is difficult to place/take stuff from Freezer or Vegetable racks in night.
This fridge was working good till May-15th. Then the fridge is not working (no cooling). But lights are glowing, so supply is there. Raised a complaint at 18002008585 and the standard turnaround time is 48 hrs. It has been 4 days now and no one has turned up. I have called up till Regional Manager, Tamilnadu for Hitachi. They have promised that it will be fixed. :-)
Hitachi refrigerators are costly when compared to other brands of the same size. (of course the 3 door model was not available in any other brand). I feel that it is not worth for the money we pay. We pay more for enjoying the benefits, rather end up regretting for taking the decision.
DO NOT BUY HITACHI REFRIGERATOR IN INDIA.
