Hi Viju Lakhsmanan, As Lodra and 781969 said your gypsy is MG 410 not Gypy King. Black tube from corbutor to metal can and to the Petrol Tank is the Petrol Return Pipe. if there was a leak, get it set right. Do not disconnect the return pipe. Unburnt Excess fuel from Carburator gets back int...o petrol tank. May be there is a block in return pipe hence leak. As regards the sound from transmission, I doubt your vehicle is in 4 WD High. You have put the 4 WD level into 2 Low to give motion only for rear wheels. My guess is that you are not able to move faster than 65 kmph only because the vehicle is in 4 WD High. Else, gear box or differential is having some problem. Get is checked. Where are you located? Maruti service stations can maintain your gypsy. DwarakRead More

Hi Karthik, It's no surprise you like gypsy most and bought despite you had choices. Yes, Gypsy is a good off roader. I own MG 410 of 1995 and enjoy every moment of drive. I have used my gypsy on highways and off roading too. During Monsoon Offroading in Coorg -2007, my gypsy came out with star wh...ere even jeeps suffered set backs in slush. Parker to comment on your views, I would say spoilt brats definitely use Gypsy , but only on roads to attract crowd. Enthusiasts buy gypsy for its performance and guts. I own gypsy for 7 years now and would never sell it. Police now a days can't afford to run gypsy, they prefer Mahindra 540 or Boleros. Defence still uses Gypsy to reach tough terrains. To check out what gypsy is capable of , please see Suzuki_gypsy-india@yahoogroups.com DwarakRead More

Digvijay, You seem to be unhappy about gypsy over mileage, discomfort, maintenance. sir, it's an affordable SUV, you have the performance minus comfort, mileage. One has to live with it, if they love the vehicle. I own the gypsy for over 7 years and have completed 80 k kms on highway/ hardco...re off roading. Performs much better than jeep some times. i would always vouch for Gypsy in place of any other vehicle , because it gives joy and safe feeling. probably it's to do with individual's taste. enidhi, the gypsy is not ready to pick in showrooms. You can book and wait for delivery with a minimum of 2 -3 months. Mostly, the gypsies are sold to defence and police. Warm regards, DwarakRead More

Pricewise, vj_maker and mjkaushal have answered it. I need to add few more pointers Normally , gypsy does not give away. One solace. Parts are mostly Suzuki Genuite Parts, means japan make. Availability is only with Maruti dealers and scarce. Mileage you can expect between 7 - 10 kmpl. 4 W...D is not optional. 4WD drives comes with all gypsies Check for bodyline for rusting check the chassis for any cuts, bend or weldings Smooth engine, sommther grear box and differentials. No hummings from any of these ofcourse tyres too. However replaceable with new sets clutch plates, engaging should be soft I would suggest you to go for Gypsy King, which is 1300 cc. 2000 and onwards , gypsy comes with MPFI. Good mileage of 11- 14 kmpl. Good will hunting Warm regards, DwarakRead More

Siddarth, As Lodhra suggested, 1986 model is quite old to go for considering the cost of maintenance and availability of spares. Rs. 1 lakh seems to too high. Looking at added features like lpg, a/c and mag wheels, you can pay max of 70 k. nothing more. Above all, 13 years old and above vehi...cles will have problems in registration transfers and emission norms. Warm regards, Dwarak Read More

Hi Lucrod, Nice to know you. I agree with you on all accounts except one- i.e. gypsy is not for long travel. I beg to differ with you on this point. I have done long drives in my gypsy 1995 model. Gypsy is my only vehicle and stuck to this for highway driving as well as regular off-roading e...vents. Did my longest drive of 1000 kms in 16 hrs between Mumbai and Bangalore in India. Am planning a trip to Himalayan mountain range some time next year on my gypsy. Gypsy is uncomfortable because of fixed suspension (spring blades). throw two sacks of sand or luggage at the back, you won't have any bumps. I found gypsy to be more sturdier and reliable on highways. I Hope you are doing off-roading too on your gypsy. Please check out 'suzuki_gypsy-india at yahoogroups for some off-roading snaps of my gypsy. Your english is definitely good. with warm regards, DwarakRead More

Dear Lodhra, Appreciate your toil to get one gypsy for yourselves. However, is that all matters. You are having a 4WD monster. If you are only intersted in glances of people at you gypsy, i do not have comments. Check into Marutigypsy@yahoogroups or SuzukiIndia@yahoogroups to find out ...what your gypsy can do and did. Register yourselves in these groups. Gypsy or Jeeps, they have unique features which differentiates them from other vehicles - that is off roading capabilities. I would hope you are intersted in off roading as well. I own 1995 1000cc gypsy for over 5 years now. Have done nearly 70k Kms on highways and off roading too. I have been one of the invitee to the Jeep_thrills@yahoogroups.com to participate in their events. Regularly held in Chennai, Bangalore, Kolkota. Share your views. Hi , Thanks for the comments on my review. Yes as you figured out , i am new to review writing. As far as maruti gypsy, i think it is more in driving one than writing about. You could buy one from either army disposals or from second hand car dealers. Check for the right one. Dwarak
