A man should have a car that suits his attitude. People should have knowledge about you when you drive and Gypsy king is that knowledge. 1300 cc macho is a performer. With 4X4 you can climb uphill without need of a road. 5 transmission is another star. This is an Indian counterpart of Suzuki Jimmy and a much better musculine than the japanese version.

If you are a not a hardcore 4X4 lover, don't go for it. if you want fuel efficiency, buy a Maruti 800 or a santro or any other rickshaw-like cars. This car is a white elephant. of course you can walk into it, grab the steering and go offroad with half a dozen friends.

I wanted to buy a car with my hard earned money before I cross 25. I started to look out for a car 1 year before my deadline and was keen on buying a Mahindra Classic 4X4 or Maruti Gypsy King. My father suggested me to buy a maruti swift - but you can't make a man like me do such a sacrifice. My brother suggested me to look out for Gypsy. I stopped by a gypsy on the road while on my way to work and noticed the beauty for the first time. That was when I changed my mind and I was keen on getting a gypsy king, a big brother of Gypsy. Gypsy had 4 gears and I wanted more. So it had to be the King.

I looked under the body, inside the bonnet and had test driven a dozen. I spent six months in search of a good one and finally found it in Miraj. Got it for 2.25 and decided never to sell it . It was then that I realized that I would be spending more after that. But it didn't matter. You dont worry much spending money for your girl, do you?

You drive it in the city and you think that its just a heavy weight toughie which burns lot of fuel but you feel good when the rickshaw drivers behave well not only with you but also with others on the road when you are around in your Gypsy.

The real fun is when you see boulders and steep incline in front of you. You dont have to ask your friends to get down till you cross the tough part. I remember climbing up a mountain from where the water would flow down and with eight full grown people in my 4X4 with ease.

The petrol engine behaves well unlike any other Diesel offroader. Starts when you want and runs without any heating  problems. I guess if you take care of it with regular servicing, it wont let you down. It applies to all other machines, but if you keep a good service record this one doesn't complain even during tough conditions. You dont have the comforts like power windows or power steering. I would prefer to keep my gypsy the way it is than add any frills and make it look like a joker.

Once you own it, its an inseperable friend. Be it shifting your house, picking up heavy goods, camping, trekking you say it, yes sir the monster is on your side.

Now I have relocated to Leeds on an onsite assignment and handed over the keys to my younger brother who is a mechanical engineer and believes that he is the best mechanic in town. But I still remember those days when me and my team mates at work used to go out for lunch on Fridays into the city in my Gypsy. The teamsize was 12 and they had no issues sitting in all awkward positions for a roller coaster ride. The machine had nothing to say except Vroom.

Right now I will do justice to my work assignment and return back. I want the driver to handover the keys of my Gypsy back to me at the airport.
