Quite a harsh review, Autumn... i heard it's better than Dish TV.... what to do... we only hav two options today... when many more pitch in, things should get better... all the same, it was quite enlightening! Keep experiencing and sharing!

Paul: Thanks for reading. Yes, i agree that movies like these need to bring in the moolah to encourage good filmmakers to continue enthralling us. Honestly, i never felt the movie was too long and neither did my parents... in fact, they were not aware that the movie was that long until i told them a...fterwards. And it was almost a full house at PVR on a Monday evening. I have also noticed that Bangalore is one of the cities that encourages good cinema. Some of the films that were hits here but only did average business in other parts of the country include Bheja Fry and Cheeni Kum. That shows good taste!Read More

I agree with Paul... no pain, no gain.... and the cycle only repeats itself... if you've earned it the easy way, you will also lose it just as tamely! The moral of the story? Do what you are good at and spend whatever you earn judiciously and within your financial boundaries...

Coolwater: I agree with you Ava... i am going to see the movie again on the big screen with my friends (the last time, i went with my family). Talking of age, when has age restricted actors Ava... take Hollywood where most are over 40. And we are talking about commercial cinema, not realistic cinema.... Who knows, maybe Akbar and Jodhaa weren't good looking either.... Then why cast Hrithik and Aishwarya? Coz films are supposed to entertain us and if that makes them unreal, so be it.
I am yet to re-listen to the Sufi number to see if it grows on me, too... will keep you posted...Read More

Nik: I agree with you about Krishna... my point isn't whether her prayers alone worked... my point is that it was moving... after all it's the love story being showcased here between Akbar and his wife, not between his mother and him. I have been a Sufi music aficianado, and have seen some of the be...st Sufi singers Live in the front row... the Khwaja number didn't move my needle.Read More

Thank you Archer! Don't know if i would call myself a 'good film critic'. I would rather call myself a film buff. And all film buffs are good for the growth of cinema as an art form.

The good news. After a dismal first weekend, Jodhaa Akbar seems to have rocked on its second weekend in big centres like Chennai, Mumbai and Bangalore. And industry experts feel that the film has salvaged its reputation after all. Which is good news for director Ashutosh Gowariker. What's more, ...Read more

Winds of change...
Feb 01, 2008 10:33 AM
The gifting instinct True, MBF... change can be good and bad... but the change on MS seems to be on the positive side... if anything, it';s one reason to come back to MS and try out the new features... until we get bored of it and MS's Faisal decides to beef up the features yet again!

Micky: I am not sure about that. Because on the same day that i went to Innovative, i had also gone to PVR to watch Welcome (where i ended up watching TZP coz they didn't have a show). At PVR, they charged me only Rs 100 for the 10am show. And on the weekend that I went to PVR, they charged me Rs 20...0.Read More

It’s a
four-screen multiplex on the city’s Outer Ring Road that opened more

quality seemed quite good, but now it’s becoming progressively worse.
Here are my grouses:

Nidhi: Thanks! The best way to tell if SHaadi Point is a success is this tiny little fact that they closed down their office in the most posh neighbourhood of Bangalore.

Monica: The reason the film touches a chord with everyone is also coz there are very films based on children that strive to teach the adults anything... its largely escapism and entertainment, but no insight. This film does just that and is entertaining, too!
