We are one of the earliest subscribers to Tata Sky in our area, and we


are wondering if we did a good thing after all. I have certain queries


that I'd like to clarify with your team. Hope to get a prompt reply on


this, especially from someone senior and responsible in the customer


service / marketing team.




  1. Is your MTNL help desk number 1860 - toll free? I am concerned




because each call made to your help desk takes 30-45 minutes to get


done, after quite some unnecessary exchanges.




  1. Since yesterday morning we are having severe fluctuations in




signal, so much so that we were unable to watch the India Australia


Cricket finals as also the Filmfare awards at night. We had a very long


call of over 30 minutes with your help desk last afternoon, and no


action whatsoever was taken to follow that up. I had to get on another


20 minute call with your help desk this afternoon, explaining the


problems all over again. I am quite shocked to hear that we'll have to


pay for service visit even though the problem might be at your end.  This means you can continue to have goof ups at your end, and each time at my end to rectify the problem, I'll have to keep shelling out a minimum of Rs.300, which is a minimum monthly fare we pay to watch some decent channels (Edited to add: the 200 rupee package is totally worthless, so folks, do not get fooled by it)


Besides, if the set top box has only a year's warranty, does it mean


that the product is fit to work only for one year? If the set top box


has a problem despite careful usage within a one year period, it is


very upsetting that a product bearing the Tata brand name has such poor


quality control. The FAQs in your website mention that a problem


digicomp will be replaced - there is no mention of cost or warranty


period in the same. Is that just to trick consumers? I have pasted


those lines below for your reference -

We have a dedicated team of over 3000 Tata Sky engineers who are trained to


solve any technical problems that you may encounter. In rare cases, when the


problem can't be resolved immediately, we will replace your digicomp.

Also, we have a serious problem with Tata SKy charging for basic


channels like Zoom. Any new channels that are added like NDTV


lifestyle, Imagine, etc. go into the additional package for which we


need to pay. Besides, channels like World Movies that are freely


available with all other cable operators / local as well as digital is


not made available by Tata Sky. I am sure the day Tata Sky provides


this, you will charge us for that also. I would like to know why you


charge for all these basic channels . As per statutory filings ZOOM tv


is a free to air channel - see below, matter taken from their website

*I want to know why Tata Sky is charging for a free to air channel like Zoom . You suddenly yank off


Neo sports, do not show channels which even a basic Cable fellow shows,


and when the whole of India is getting new channels each month, Tata


Sky fails to air those channels, and even if they do, will expect


existing subscribers to pay a bomb.
