In our country , we all know that women have to face a lot of problems in sphere of life. These problems will be more serious for those women who are from lower middle class/poor family or from rural background or belong to backward class. There are numerous women magazines published in India for various categories of women. However it may be seen that most of them are dwelling in familiar domain of fashion, style, life style, cinema , gossip, scandal etc. etc. Very seldom they devote some pages to core issues which are relevant for women. They used to highlight film stars, women entrepreneurs, businesswomen, successful women of corporate world , women writer/painter/sculptor etc etc. Seldom they pay their attention to women achiever of under privileged class. How a poor village girl , victim of rape, defies all powerful opponent of the society and testify before court with her life in danger, is not worth publishing for this magazines. How a 52 years old mother is appearing in secondary examinations along with her daughters after working 12 hrs a day for livelihood of her family, is not a story at all for this magazines. There are thousands of such incidences involving common womenfolk but those will never be highlighted and never be told to other fellow women. Being a man myself, I feel sick seeing that always women are being depicted as commodity in scantily clad photos in these magazines and they are trying to depict a picture that women means costly dress , costly shoes, costly watches, ornaments and gadgets. Only those things are the measure of superior womanhood. I am not generalizing all of them, there must be exceptions. But I am sorry to say that most of them are just garbage so far as real issues of the women are concerned.
