Another woman's day went by on Mar8th. Every newspapers, TV channels , personalities across politics, sports were going gaga over the progress made by women across various fields. Another set was debating on how our society has become unsafe for women. Need for stricter punishment for rape, stalking were also making rounds. Debates happened on how items songs and movies are responsible for the pathetic state of women in the country. The way some debates were progressing made me feel that men are responsible for the sorry state of affairs of the women. It made me wondering. Is it really so?
Does a woman not love her father, her brother, her husband, her son etc.... Can we imagine a world without them. But then what is the issue. Issue is the disparity is not that woman faces the discrimination outside the house. It is the discrimination inside the house that hurts the most.
Parents are quick to disciplne a daughter. They have a well defined template on how a daughter should behave. What she should wear, when and where she can go, with whom she can talk etc..I am not against this rules. But a daughter expects that same rules are applied to the son also. Just like teaching the daughter values, parents take trouble to teach some values to their son also.
They keep some restrictions on their sons, monitor their son also on their activities. Teach their kids to respect each other by accepting their differences. This will ensure a more healthy relationship between siblings. We love our brothers and we would love them more if they dont have that superiority complex that all knowing look which says I know what is best for you.
Now coming to marriage. Again the sam thing applies. Wife expects respect from the husband. Saat pheras are taken together. Husband and wife are 2 sides of the same coin. One is not superior to another. They have to work together to make the marriage success. If they ahve to work together they have to respect each other. They need to understand each other and accept the differences. Support each other so that together they can reach heights which they cannot do alone. I feel one of the key things about successful marriage is the respect for your partner.
So for me I would say what the woman is looking for a relationship is respect. So it is a humble request start respecting the woman in your life your mother, sister , wife, daughter. Appreciate their presence in your life. This one thing can make life more easier for woman.
