The Kapoor name had ruled the Indian Films for nearly 5 decades from 1930’s and 1980’s Industry by giving film professionals like Prithiviraj Kapoor, Raj Kapoor, Shammi Kapoor and Shashi Kapoor, Rishi Kapoor. Even today, their 4th generation is trying their best to continue ‘The Showman’s Charisma’.
Mini Mathur has been conducting a-soap on Legendary Film families. I saw one on the Kapoor family, which inspired me to write it.
I was watching the film ‘Awaara’(1951) a few days back. It was really a good learning. Anyone interested in being a part of films anywhere in the world, must watch the film. The song, ‘Ghar aayaa mera pardesi’ was used in the film Lamhe in the parody made by Yash Chopra, starring Anil Kapoor and Sridevi. The Charismatic acting of Late Shri Prithvi Raj Kapoor really was of a Chief Army. The film was nominated for the Palme d'Or at the Cannes Film Festival. The Government of India honoured him with the Padma Bhushan in 1971 and the Dadasaheb Phalke Award in 1987.
An example on scene writing is the ‘Scene of dog and hero in sadness thinking of is lost love when his ill deeds come between them’, is seen in the film Chalte Chalte starring Shahrukh Khan.
He thought ahead of his times, be it costumes, story, direction, music. Woman portrayal was sensuous. His lovy-duvvy, chocolate boy look made women crazy for him upto Russia.
When I saw Sanjana Kapoor (Prithvi Theatre) I was so excited. She is doing a good work. Karishma Kapoor, Kareena Kapoor(films) have carried forward the Kapoor Charishma. The Gennext Ranbir Kapoor’s(name taken from his grandfather) acting convinces me that Late Shri Raj Kapoorji’s times are coming back.
Being a film professional and fan, having met many film stars from a very young age though I do not come from a movie background, this is what I feel about the Kapoors.
