Story India

The story revolves around the family pressure which makes the children give up their dreams. Based in a Sardar family of London, the idea is applicable to any person, though subjective. Cricket, the beloved sport of the masses has found an apt place along with racism, as the theme of the film.

Following are my comments on various film making aspects, after watching the film.

Nikhil Advani, the director has done a good job

Actors – Rishi Kapoor and Dimple Kapadia together revived the days of ‘Bobby’. Rishi Kapoor is an apt father, with discipline and love. Dimple Kapadia is a good wife and mother. Anushka Sharma (Simran) is now becoming ‘a famous’ bollywood actress. Akshay Kumar (Pargat) acts perfectly as ‘Gattu’, the revolutionist son, who gives freedom and happiness to all his young cousins. The character actors create a group which also brings light moments to the film. Watching Soni Razdan after years in the comic role of ‘Bua’ was really interesting.

Music – It is Okay.

Dance – The rap song and ‘Laung Da Lashkara’ dance numbers are well to run in discotheques and pubs.

Art direction – Simple and attractive

Costumes are in tune with modern and conventional style, of the life of Sardars and Punjabi’s based in London.

Family values – Very strongly portrayed in the film. All the cousins unite against the entire South Hall Community and their beloved uncle and aunt to make Akshay play for England.

I would rate the film as 3. It acts as an impetus for submissive youth and kids.
