I had an amazing experience last month when I happened to meet our fellow MouthShut_Official member Somjeet Roy aka @countme91 in person. This is the first time I met with a MouthShut_Official member in person, and it was a really nice thing to happen.
In the past few years I have interacted with many MouthShut_Official members. Some have added me on social networking sites, while esteeemed member Jitendra ji aka @jmathur have called me several times and even sent me personal e-mails. Somjeet had been interacting with me for over an year now in MouthShut_Official. He realised that we work in the same company through one of my blogs The Power of Silence and contacted me through M2M. Since then, we have regularly stayed in touch. But since we worked out of two different campus premises, we never came face to face.
Last November, I was sent to work out of a new office campus for a couple of months. Little did I know that Somjeet works out of the same campus. What's more he actually worked in the same building, same floor and same bay as me! Our seats where some 40-50 metres apart only. Suddenly one day he sent me a message in our inter-office chat system. He said, turn around you can see me. I was surprised and turned around and saw him waving at me gleefully. We then met each other, shook hands, smiled and went into a meeting room to have a chat. I was pleasantly shocked at how he recognised me. He said he had seen my MouthShut_Official photos. However, he looked a bit grown up as compared to his present MouthShut_Official profile picture, so I had no chance of recognising him.
We spoke about various things. We discussed work, how we are maintaining work life balance, briefly about our families, and of course about MouthShut_Official. We spoke about the things about MouthShut_Official that we like and the things we think should improve for the better. Of course we discussed other MouthShut_Official members. We happened to have favorite writers in MouthShut_Official, and we spoke in appreciation about many esteeemed members. We also spoke about trouble makers and how their absence makes MS a cleaner place.
Somjeet is some 9-10 years younger than me, but I felt no generation gap while speaking to him. He is mature and a composed man. When he spoke he spoke with conviction and their was humility in his voice and manner. It was really great to meet a MouthShut_Official member in person for the first time. And that too, someone from my own city, who works in the same company as me!
I might not have ever known Somjeet even after working in the same office, had we not met on MouthShut_Official. Thanks to MouthShut_Official that I now know this amazing person. This is the beauty of this site. Apart from great reviews, and great blogs, it also brings great people close to you!
Now, I would be eager to read Somjeet's(@countme91) version of our meeting...
