Dad's Birthday

Hi MSians,

My last post was a bit morose and some of you expressed concern over my well being. Just to reassure you all that I am doing good. Life is fine at my end. There are so many colors in life. It changes like seasons change. Love, hate, happiness and sorrow all collide together like electrons and protons in a vast magnetic field.

So here's an update on an evening of happiness I spent with my family. It was my father's birthday yesterday. The day before, we went out for buying him gifts. At first, my dad, mom, wife and I went to a bookstore of Ananda Publishers. I bought books for him. My dad chose a couple for himself and the rest of us too chose one book each for him. Then we went to Pantaloons where my dad bought two trousers for himself. We came back home on a happy note.

In the evening, my wife bought a Pierre Cardin pen and a greetings card for him from South City Mall. This was kept a secret only to be revealed the next morning.

Yesterday morning, we greeted Dad after waking up in the morning. Then me and my wife handed over the card and pen to him to his sheer pleasure. I went out for office. All day long my mother and wife were engrossed in cooking goodies for the evening. I had proposed a dinner out, but they insisted to cook themselves. Sometimes really, home cooked food is the best food.

When I entered the home back from office, I got the lovely smell of a freshly baked cake. Both my mom and wife know to bake a cake and manage it quite well too. This time, they made a Chocolate Cake. My wife even decorated it and wrote "Happy Birthday Baba" above it.

Once I changed and got fresh, we had the cake cutting ceremony. My Dad blew off a single candle and we all clapped. Then we sang "Happy Birthday to you" as he cut the cake with style and elan! He cut out a huge piece and made mom, me and my wife all eat off it. It was great fun after a long, long time. The warmth and togetherness of family really filled me with joy. These moments are so rare in our lives, that we cherish them like precious stones.

Then it was dinner time. My mom had cooked lots of delicacies. There was Fried Rice, Fish Fry, Boneless Chicken Curry and Payas as the dessert. It was a great sumptuous dinner.

I relished the day to my heart's content and it was good to see a smile on everyone's face. These little joys of life are what makes life worth it; and these are exactly the reason why I love life!

Cheers,

Avishek
