What is friendship according to you? Do you have a best friend? Do you have a friend who has stood by you through thick and thin? Now the out of context question is, Are you married? Do you still take time out for your old friends?

Life changes without we focusing much on the everyday change. Marriage is one such change, it changes both the person and his/her life style. There comes a time when you decide upon giving your family the first priority and friends, well, your calendar values them more. On the other hand, you might fall under a category where you are married and nothing really has changed for you…

When one talks about plain friendship, we never really focus on the gender. However, there are chances that it matters to your spouse. Apart from two different individuals, marriage certainly brings two different cultures together.. You might be the open-minded kinds, studied in co-ed, working in a colorful atmosphere but is your spouse ok with it?

I happen to talk to a school friend yesterday, a homemaker by profession, she expressed her discomfort over her husband’s attitude which hasn’t changed after marriage.. For him friendship is valued and cherished. He understands that she doesn’t approve of his casual friendship with old female colleagues and friends. He doesn’t care and calls her frog in the well.

I asked my friend not to bother about it much and not to react. I could not help her much to overcome the emotions she was going through.

Marriage, as a matter of fact, is much above any friendship. I believe if your spouse is not happy with your approach towards your friends, it is high time you change it. If you wish to meet an old friend, do meet him/her but ask your spouse to join you.. Make him/her feel important. Trust is the major ingredient of this curry called Marriage. Value this life-time relationship and remember even marriage is similar to that of friendship, a friendship in which your friend is always there beside you..

You might have a different viewpoint. What is your take on Friendship after Marriage?
