From childhood, one proverb has been set in my mind that ‘Honesty is the best policy’. Today, I can realize Honesty is nothing but a strong base on which one can build his/her character securely.
Being honest is the hardest job today. People who are honest, face many problems, has to jump over unnumbered hurdles in life. Sometime they pass the barriers successfully or fail sometime, but at the end they are the gainer – they can look directly into their eyes in mirror. They can remain transparent. They gain the honour, the dignity in front of his innerself, in front of the world.
Honesty is a rare virtue. Rare, because people cannot walk on the rough path of honesty for long time. Also greed to get happiness, money, pleasure or other in small time lures us irresistibly. What is wrong can be done easily; it is hard to choose the right one. In the same way, it is hard to stay honest after you do any wrong even by mistake. It is hard to confess the misdeed in front of others. And it is alarming when you cannot confess the error in front of mirror, to your own mind.
In the busy life, we have to wear mask in front of the world. We have to smile fake, we have to hide our emotions, we have to tell lies to others. The opportunities to remain honest come very rarely. Don’t avoid the opportunity of being honest whenever you have to choose among other options. Because, you never know when your honesty will pay you back! And… when honesty pays back, the return has to be in your favour.
It is really very necessary to be honest in a relationship. Being honest can keep going the journey long successfully. After all, we vow to be together forever, never leave them alone. After that too, those who cheat on their life partner can never remain in peace. How can they even stand in front of the mirror?
I am sad. A bad news from one of my close friend is bothering me since 2-3days. She is breaking her 3years’ marriage. She was happy with her husband the last time we met a year & half back. And now she is going to break the sacred bond for dishonesty of her husband. He was cheating on her for a year and already enough pain she’d undergone. Tears filled in my eyes while listening to her. Oh God! She must be facing the toughest time of her life. God, please forgive them who does not give due honour to their life partners.
To me, it is easy being honest & transparent than to cheat on. It is easy to tell the truth than to hide them, tell lies & memorize them. Yes, if you lie, you must have amazing memory, great timing & have to be a born actor, unless your ‘dishonesty’ will collapse!
My teacher told me once, at all turns of life, when one have to choose a path; you always can see two roads in front. The road leads to failure is always short & smooth, and the road leads to success is long & rough. What matter is, where you end up. So, one must choose his/her steps carefully.
What I believe is that if you live an honest life, in return, you will receive the best at the end of the day. Being honest is the hardest test of life. Though you have to cross path full of difficulties, keep max patience, undergo much pain; whatever will your experience be, you will reach success at the end. The joy of tranquility, the peace of mind will sing the lullaby to bring the peaceful sleep.
Stay calm. Stay strong. Stay honest.
