Shri Anna Hazare, the great social activist sat on a fast unto death this time fighting against corruption in the Indian political system. After a day of high drama and four days of Anna Hazare's fasting, the Government, on Friday, finally agreed to form a joint committee to draft a stronger Lokpal Bill.

The government will issue an appropriate order constituting the committee that will include representatives of civil society and government. The panel will have five members and five representatives of the civil society. It includes Anna Hazare himself, but not as a chairman, lawyers Shanti Bhushan and Prashant Bhushan, anti-corruption activist Arvind Kejriwal and former Supreme Court judge Santosh Hegde. Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee will be the Chairman of the committee that will also include Law Minister Veerappa Moily, Telecom Minister Sibal, Home Minister P Chidambaram and Water Resources Minister Salman Khurshid as members.

In the agreement, the government has committed itself to introducing the new Lokpal Bill in the forthcoming monsoon session of Parliament.

The most interesting part of this protest was that people from all sectors, especially film personalities and even children from schools joined the movement. It is the victory of Indians. The corrupt system needs to be changed for the easy existence of the masses. It was a mass movement by the people and for the people. The people stood triumphant. ‘HATS OFF TO SHRI ANNA JI’. The spirit of the Indians is also commendable. Today’s youth is aware of the vices of the system and are ready to fight against it. They want a free and fair India for all.

Keep up the spirit!
