As a kid I was never found of the rainy season , I always felt gloomy and sad and found everything dull , I never liked summer either , I only liked winter , I loved to wear thick clothes and move around , even in places where its very cold and windy especially hilly regions I loved the fact that the cold would make us appear as we are smoking even when we weren’t : -) but now when I am much older and a lot wiser ( thank god for that : -) ) I am starting to like rains , its funny my love for rainy season comes at the time when we are not getting much rains , our lakes aren’t getting filled as they should hence causing scarcity in the water supply .The issue is so serious that artificial rains are being created with national cloud seeding programme which introduces chemicals either dry ice or silver iodide aerosols, potassium and sodium chloride into the upper part of clouds to try to stimulate the precipitation process and get rain.
It’s the month of July and given the rains we’ve had so far unless it really pours down things are not going to be very good
Poor rainfall in rain-dependent central and southern India could affect agricultural GDP growth and could put the brakes on the country’s growth engine
I have never ever thought about all of this anytime but now I am
I never thought about water scarcity , water conservation , how basic things that I always took for granted actually mean so much but now I am , maybe cause i'm getting older but i'm glad its better late than never
Coming back to my recent love of rains , here is a small list of all that I love about rains
1] sleeping / lying on my bed with a blanket and there is a little chill breeze in the air and its raining outside and I can see it pouring down from my window
2] driving in the rains with my car window glasses up , a/c on but not too cold so that I always have a good view of the road both front and rear
3] standing on the terrace in the shade and just watching the rains being directed by the winds blowing
4] having some hot drinks and good food watching a good movie while its raining and there is a little chill breeze in the air : -)
I know that the people that live on the streets and that the people living in low lying areas or places that are not suitable to withstand strong rains are badly affected when it rains hard … really hard … like it did in July 2005 at home in Mumbai , I would never wish or pray for anything like that ever
I pray for good rains just enough so that there is no scarcity of water in the city and there is no loss of life or property that’s all that I pray for
I’m just hoping that in the reminder months July … August .. rains fall more frequently and fill up the rivers and that people don’t have any water problems
That is my honest and humble prayer to God
