Bharat Bandh - Bandhs Are Not The Solution

Opposition National Democratic Alliance and the Left parties geared up to enforce a “Bharat Bandh” on Monday in protest against the fuel price hike but the government firmly ruled out any rollback and slammed as unjustified the call for the nation-wide strike.

Normal life is likely to be affected & the concerned authorities are preparing to take all security measures to ensure that no untoward incident during the Bharat Bandh. I don't think that this one day bandh will change the government decisions. Earlier on several occasions’ opposition called one day bandh and nothing happened. Even the opposition parties will forget the issue after making the bandh successful.

The bandhs by the political parties give a day's employment to few party workers and takes away employment of great number of others. The political parties have no right to disrupt the life of people with unnecessary strikes, bandhs & hartals. If they want to address grievances of people or protest against anything, they should do that only by conducting protests in a peaceful manner & without causing any disruption to people's life.

I am against such sharp price rises but am not in favour of the bandh as this will serve no purpose. Personally I think the Bharat Bandh is useless. Bandhs will only be symbolic and unnecessarily trouble the general public. Bandhs will bring the whole nation to a stand still. These political parties only make a fool of the common man. It is the common man who will suffer the most from bandhs. If Opposition does not support the hike, they must fight it out with the Government and not take it out on the common man.

No doubt the petroleum prices have become dearer which will boost Inflation and upset the homely and financial budget of the every common man. The opposition should bring a vote of no confidence on the issue of rising prices of essential commodities and specially Petroleum Products.

The Govt may not reverse the decision, Oil price will continue to increase and it’s quite obvious as well. Bandh won't decrease the price; it will affect the Indian economy. This is only the opposition's lip sympathy. They show their crocodile tears only to bundh and paralise the nation.

It is very interesting to note that US President Obama in his recent press conference has said that the current rise in petroleum oil is due to the fact that India and China are buying more number of cars. The natural resources are drying up and the demand for oil is always increasing. The price rise in such situation is inevitable. The opposition party is just making a political stunt by calling a Bandh which is not going to help bring down the prices.

Any government that comes to power raises the prices of these commodities and we are spending heavily on the import of oil and energy. Fossil fuels are non-renewable and damaging to our economy. It is better that we try to switch over to renewable energy alternatives and minimize our petrol, diesel and gas consumption.

The oil companies are incurring losses but the way prices have been increased at the time when food inflation is rocketing high can not be justified. Need was to take comprehensive stock of various Central & State sponsored policies which are leading to colossal wastage of funds through wide spread corruption. State Govt. taxation policy needs urgent reforms which are levying high taxes.

When our country is facing tough challenges due to price rise, and now these bandh's will make life worst and miserable. Its mere stupidity to call a bandh at this juncture and it will not yield anything.
