Babri Masjid - Ram Mandir or Peace & Humanity ?

The path to Heaven is not by faith or worship, but by doing good and avoiding evil.

The Babir Masjid / Ram Mandir matter has been a hanging fire for long. The legal dispute started in 1950 but the genesis of the trouble goes as far back as 1528 when Mughal emperor Babar’s lieutenant Mir Baqi built a mosque in Ayodhya. Hindus claim it was built on a temple marking the birthplace of their God Ram.

The dispute continued, with communal clashes at times. However, things took a serious turn when some people placed idols of Ram inside the disputed shrine during the night of December 22, 1949.

Ever since the Ayodhya dispute has been a saga of communal strife and a point of debate between lawyers and historians. ‘Kar sevaks’ demolished the disputed structure on December 6, 1992, but the controversy surrounding the shrine has refused to die down.

The legal dispute surrounding the shrine in Ayodhya may see its denouement very soon. The Lucknow bench of the Allahabad high court will deliver its verdict on the matter, which has been pending for six decades. A three-judge special bench hearing the title suits to decide whether the place of worship was a temple or a mosque had finished hearing in four cases on August 25 and reserved its judgment. Everyone is keeping their fingers crossed for the crucial judgment.

The religious leaders of all the communities in our country should work to maintain the communal harmony and peace in the country. They should ask their followers to respect & accept the court's decision and maintaining law and order. Our country has a composite culture and it should be maintained at all costs. The secular fabric of the nation has to be preserved at all costs.

It is the right time for the members of the respective communities to show their solidarity and faith in peaceful co-existence by showing their acceptability to the Court's verdict whosoever favour it might be in is. It is a rare opportunity to demonstrate the secular credentials of our judicial system and also of the people of our country. The first priority should be our country, if it remains there can be many more temples, Churches, Gurudwaras and Mosques.

We have to move on from Mandir / Masjid issue, as it is more of a politically motivated issue than a religious issue. I don't think any religion allows suppressing other. This is a hyped issue by both religions & unfortunately the media sells it like a hot cake. What difference does it make for an Indian of any religion whether there is a temple or mosque at the disputed land?

Sarai Jahan se acha Hindustan hamara. Mazhab nahin sikhata aapus mein bair rakhna, Hindi hain hum, hum watan hain…….

"When I do good, I feel good. When I do bad, I feel bad. That's my religion."
