An Evening in Kolkata

20th-May-2010, I was standing on Howrah Bridge, which is now called Rabindra Setu, with my daughter & wife, when I received the call from the person for whom I came to Kolkata. He was ahead of schedule at the place fixed between us for our meeting. I love people who value time.

My train to Vizag was on 21st early AM hours but I reached Kolkata on 20th to meet one of my favourite Msian. If you have been to Kolkata then you know the crowd at the Howrah Bridge heading towards the railway station in the evening, we joined those hundreds of people with our bearings set towards the common destination. Some to catch the bus, some for the train & people like us to meet someone they have never met before.

After reaching the rendezvous point I told my wife that I have never met him, but have seen his profile picture on MS & would I be able to recognize him with that? Before she could answer, I saw this tall, handsome & dashing personality heading towards me. There he was, none other then Nishant SinghakaSyd Barret, the man for whom I came to Kolkata. he made things easier for me by recognising me.

Greetings exchanged & then we had a nice discussion on few topics, as we sipped chilled Pepsi. Our discussion on all the topics were very short but precise. His parents were also leaving Kolkata the same evening & I really appreciate he could squeeze out some time for us.

'Time flies' I agree, because soon it was time for him to leave to meet his parents who fortunately had to catch the train from Howrah station, which saved him extra traveling & he could kill two birds with one stone.

Though it was our first meeting but it seemed that we know each other from years, thanks to MS for this special bonding. I promised him that during my next visit, I'll stay in Kolkata for two days that will give us an opportunity to discuss on various issues.

Thanks Nishant bhai for the wonderful evening & I do look forward to meet you again soon.
