In an in-flight Air China magazine, passengers were warned that "precautions are needed when entering areas mainly populated by Indians, Pakistanis and black people."

Spotted by a CNBC journalist, Haze Fan - who tweeted an image of the article that also read, "We advise tourists not to go out alone at night, and females always to be accompanied by another person when travelling."

According to CNBC report, the offensive passage appeared in a "Tips from Air China" section in the airline's Wings of China magazine as part of a broader series of articles about the British capital.

For a flag carrier of a country, advising passengers to avoid a "certain" ethnic minority neighborhoods is racist and offensive.

The article sparked an outrage on social media.

Air China's North American Twitter account posted an apology Wednesday afternoon that said copies of the magazine were being removed from flights. However, the tweet was deleted hours later without any clarification, CNN Money reported.
