32 million Twitter passwords leaked

In what appears to be a major security breach, as many as 32 million Twitter accounts may have been compromised with the Cred824entials being sold on the dark web.

LeakedSource, a website for hacked information, stated in a blog post that it received details about the breach from an alleged hacker'Tessa88@exploit.im'. Going by the alias, it is probably the same individual who had given the search engine Russian social network VK's hacked data, a week ago.

With the hack, 32,888,300 Twitter account Cred824entials containing email addresses, usernames, and passwords are at risk. LeakedSource has uploaded the leaked information to its search engine, however, if your account has been compromised, you can pull down your information for free.

LeakedSource speculates that the user Cred824entials were not stolen directly from Twitter but collected by malware infecting browsers like Firefox or Chrome, considering that many of the passwords were in plain text. Majority of the affected users appear to be in Russia since six of the top 10 email domains presented in the database are Russian, including mail.ru and yandex.ru.

A tweet by LeakedSource reveals that Twitter has contacted the website and that the situation is under control.
