Nice review. I have also booked for Honda Unicorn (Black) in December 2009 with its Dealer in Palakkad (Kerala) and I'm waiting its delivery anytime. I didn't drive this vehicle but I checked with those who use Honda Unicorn for the last 2-3 years said, it's a fantastic bike by all means. Good Luck ...to all of my Honda Unicorn LoversRead More

Hi, I'm a proud owner of TATA Safari Petrol VXi 4x4 since last around 3 years and I'm fully happy with my Black Beast. ONLY the Indian SUV on Indian Roads is the safest is TATA SAFARI, I have never heard of any fatality on any Safari Accidents at the same time, I have witnessed & heard of fatal...ities on Scropios, Innovas, Qualies, even Ford Endeavours. You must fix your priorities first - Safari is No. 1 on Driver/Passengers' safety, Stability, Reliability, Space and Driving Comfort, Visibility. This vehicle is not Light, it has 2 Ton. + tare weight, b.cos its frame and body are made out of heavy steel to withstand any impact and avoid deformation. This is the only reason it gives less average. All other SUVs - made exclusively for Indian Roads namely Toyota Fortuner, Prado, Ford Endeavour, are having less weight, b.cos they use light materials to give more mailage and reduce the weight. Why the convoy of Indian President & PM, and many State Govt.s use TATA Safari, your answers are all inside. I do not claim all Safaries are maintenance free, some safari may give frequent problems, and some needs frequent maintenance, is not at Tata's fault, it is the bad luck of those who gets such vehicles is his/her fate. Scropio is totally not safe in high speed and it cannot withstand any impact, even the passenger at its extream back seats are not safe.Read More

Quite strange review, and his bad luck, most likely he did not check the vehicle, and tested prior to pay and take delivery of this vehicle. I also didn't any service and support from the dealer (Koyenco Motors-Kochi) they were not even willing to accept my order for Petrol Safari, instead forced me... to book a Dicor Safari, finally I approached TATA Motors and requested their help to get me my dream vehicle (Safari Petrol VXi 4x4) without involving Koyenco, which they have agreed and supplied the vehicle almost directly to me. Today I'm a proud owner of TATA Safari Petrol VXi 4x4 (Quartz Black) which I bought in June 2007 from TATA Motors Kochi, which has already crossed 18K+ kms till date is not having any problem and running very smoothly. I just avail the free service from their authorized service centre (AutoZone) in Coimbatore, they are also very cooperative and have state of the art facilities and expert mechanics for all Tata Vehicles.Read More

After I bought Tata Safari Petrol VXi 4x4 in June 2007, I have been aspiring to own a small car(hatchback) for my family's local use, which come true on last week when I took delivery of my FIAT Palio Stile 1.6 Sport(Carbon Black) from Concord Motors-Kochi. I would say, his bad luck that he got the vehicle with defective clutch plates. I too bought Tata Safari Petrol VXi 4x4 (Quartz Black) in June 2007, so far completed 15,000kms on all types of rough & smooth roads in Kerala & Tamilnadu, but I never ever had any trouble with my vehicle, performing ver...y smoothly, I maintain it very carefully and it still looks show-room condition. This was the last vehicle of Safari Petrol VXi 4x4 (full-option model), as this version was stopped as confirmed by Tata Motors and is no more available with Tata. I suggest you to take your vehicle with another Service Centre (not Wasan) and get it thoroughly checked by an expert mechanic and sort out this problem for ever. Selling out this vehicle is not a solution, you will loose much in selling, treat its problems and make him fit fully for ever. Good Luck my friendRead More

Since I also own Tata Safari Petrol VXi 4x4 and feel proud of its all-round performance for the last One year, I fully endorse and share with his views. What he said is absolutely true about Safari. No vehicle is 100% perfect, each one has few pros & cons, one must realise which is more - Pros o...r Cons. In my Safari I found 99% pros hence 1% con is irrelevant to me. No doubt, Safari is well suited to Indian road conditions and Tata made it so rigid to withstand all abuses and to last long. Safari enjoys its own image, status and feel respect on our roads, which I felt while on roads - interior as well as highways.Read More

Dear Dharan, Safari's Driver Seat is adjustable and feel very comfortable for anyone, tall & short. Myself is 6.3 ft. tall and still enough space vacant to accommodate few more Inches. All the seats of Safari are very comfortable with more leg space and head rest. Sorry dear, I will never ever... trade my Safari Petrol VXi 4x4 QuartzBlack 'Our Marvel' in this life.Read More

Your case is not an exceptional one, as many vehicle owners had similar to worst experience with their new vehicles, the only difference is less complaints about Toyota, Honda, Suzuki, Ford, Skoda, GM etc. because of their technological advantages, whereas our desi vehicles are having more problems ...and frequent complaints b.cause they do not believe in any quality standards. However, Tata Safari is really a good vehicle well suited for our road conditions. It is strong, sturdy, feel comfort and secure, spacious and good sporty look. Today I also own a Safari Petrol VXi 4x4 (high-end version) that I bought in last June. Fortunately, I have not faced any problems with my vehicle so far. I maintain it very well and I fully satisfied and happy with its performance. Though Safari and Scorpio both are SUVs, but Safari is Safari and Scorpio cannot replace and stand near to Safari. Dear Ram, Tata brought out their first Safari Petrol in Sept. 2003 and you bought their initial model. Thereafter they made some modifications and refinments inside and outside that helped the Safari look more beautiful. From the beginning I plan to buy only Petrol Safari but its high-end version.... I have collected all the details and feed back of its Petrol Engine from various sites, and ofcourse I used to read Owners' Reviews regularly and I read your review too on the next day you flashed. One thing I wish to mention here that no Owner of Petrol Safari has ever complained about its engine, at the same time like you and me, others also showed their full satisfaction of their Petrol Safari. Safari's 486PL Petrol Engine is a 100% Tata Engg. product, fully indigenious and found the best petrol engine, powerful and almost maintenance free, whereas their Dicor Engine is a product of TVS-Bosch, and people who own Safari Dicor even today continue to complaint about its engine, lack of power and vibration etc. 2100cc Petrol Safari is more powerful and can easily overtake the 3000cc Dicor Safari on highways. I made thorough study and comparison of all the SUVs available in India made by Indian as well as International vehicle manufacturers, and finally I came to conclusion that for long term it is the best option to go for any Indian vehicles made by Indian automobile manufacturers, in which I found Tat...a Safari that too its Petrol VXI model with 4x4 is the 'best' vehicle I choosed for my needs, and I have no complaint about this model vehicle yet, but it doesn't mean this vehicle will not have any problems later, since all vehicles are a kind of machine which moves on all kinds of roads, is bound to get stuck somewhere sometime, whether it is a Rs. 2 lacs Maruti-800 car or a Rs. 65 lacs Mercedes, Lexus, Audi, BMW or WV. Before purchasing any vehicle, one must make sure whether skilled mechanics are available for their vehicles in the service centres, and easy availability of its spares locally and cheaply. that is the reason for for my choosing Tata Safari Petrol version, because it is purely a indigenious designed and made by Tata Engg. and no one has ever complained about their Petrol Engine, whereas there are lots of complaints of their Dicor engines. I pay more for Petrol will definitely compensate me on its maintenance cost. There is a risk for opting any vehicle being manufactured by International manufacturers like Toyota, Honda, Ford, Mitsubishi, GM, Suzuki, even if they produce vehicles in India, because they change their models very frequently almost every year and if one wish to keep their vehicle for longer period may face difficulty in getting its spares or may not at all the spares available for it. This is the main area to be kept in mind before going for any international brands of vehicles. The present models of Toyota Qualis, Innova, Prado, Honda CRV, Civic, Accord, Ford Icon, Endeavour will not be seen on Indian roads or available in India after 2-3 years, however, Tata Safari Petrol version will be produced and available in India another 10 yearsRead More

I am a regular visitor of this site and I read many such reviews as Mr. Tejas brought out. On top of everything we must realize and accept the fact, TATA is a 100% Desi Company, and are determined to keep up Indian Standard (in other words & right sense it is 'Inferior Standard'). Even after 50 or... 500 years, it is sure that TATA will and never reach near to the Standard of Toyota, Honda, GM, Suzuki in regard to their Quality & Service. TATA is still living in Stone-Age whereas Toyota, Honda, GM all are in 21st Century and ofcourse they are not Indian Companies and belief in Indian Standards.Read More

Dear Mr. Ravi, Thanks for a Nice review on your experience about TATA Safari. I'm also a NRE also SUV lover & I have already booked for a Safari VXi Petrol 4x4 BS-III quartz black last week for my personal use. I personally don't like to own a diesel SUV, I don't mind to spend more on petrol jus...t to have a smooth & vib.free driving, less on maintenance and avoid frequent visits to workshop. Both my Sons also SUV lovers and they had Test Driven the vehicle (diesel Safari) They found the performance of the vehicle quite satisfactory. Now you are also one of the satisfied Safari Owners, and your review gave me more confidence in Tata Safari. I wish u Good LuckRead More

Hi Ramakrishnan, Really nice & conprehensieve review of Safari EXi Petrol 4x4. I found it very useful & informative because I have been dreaming to own this vehicle since long, waiting all these years to give TATA enough time to show their engg. expertise to remove all the teething troubles of thei...r Safari's Engine, and bring-out an improved version of TATA Safari with trouble free engine with excellent interiors, they have succeeded in it. I heard the latest TATA Safari Petrol VXi & EXi models are excellent. Therefore, I have already booked for a New TATA Safari VXi Petrol 4x4 BS-III Quartz Black (full-option) vehicle which is going to be delivered to me very soon.Read More
